Does the playoff committee keep a 10-2 Ole Miss team with an interim coach out of the playoffs?

Yes. Obviously. If we were #5, where we should be, maybe not.

They could be left out if they win and lane bolts. They’ve already dropped a spot.

The signaling seems clear. My guess is they are going to keep OM out so that the institution and Oxford suffer significant and quantifiable economic damage and they hope this come back on Lane and deter any coaches from doing this in the future.

How does punishing OM football have any effect, assuming that Kiffen IS planning on leaving? In that circumstance, OM football isn’t “his” program, right? Shouldn’t LSU football be the object for this?

I personally don’t think this is what Lane is doing BUT…

They preemptively signaled to make it publicly clear that Lane was damaging his employer willfully and deliberately.

That’s what’s going on.

Yes! Ole Miss is well deserving to be in the playoffs. It isn't like the starting quarterback got hurt and wasn't going to be able to compete in the playoffs.

Oh, I see. You believe Kiffen is staying at OM and the committee is making a statement with *that* in mind. “You frick around with your team, we’ll frick around with you.”

If Lane leaves OM can kiss CFP goodbye due to "loss of critical personnel".

I am no OM fan but must say Kiffin is rapidly working his way up as the most disliked Coach in the country.

His players are really getting screwed, fir Seniors this is the only chance hey will have to go to the CFP.

I hope Butler Snow is readying the papers. There actually may be a case against Lane.

Correct because they believe Lane is showing disregard for the CFP as a whole. Therefore, they want him to be exposed to legal recourse such as willfull and gross negligence for his handling of this affair.

I believe the committee’s perception of what Lane is doing, however, is incorrect. I think ultimately fooled nearly everyone.

The committee has ultimately told Lane that you are out of time, though.

The committee has effectively told Lane that he is going to cost OM at home playoff game.

Coincidentally, the university recently concluded an economic impact study on the effect of a home playoff game for Oxford and the university that said it would be an $80M windfall for the community and university.

I would never have thought the committee would go down this path, however.

So, now you have the situation where the committee is publicly signaling to Lane that his actions are about to directly harm his employer.

As a fan, I’m horrified. As just observer, however, this is really unique and fascinating.

Yes- CFP is about to bend LK over a barrel if he leaves.

OM will get screwed in the process.

Yeah man. Jokes aside, it’s absolutely bullshite what’s going on and horrible for the fans. NCAA has to figure out how this is going to work to stop this from happening.

Maybe it’s changing when the portal is open. I don’t know.

Lane is likely going to fail wherever his next stop is. He does not have that extra gear of social intelligence to handle when the goings get tough and he is having to deal with big time doners. The expectations at LSU (or Florida) are multiples times higher than Ole Miss.

Saban should have left that fricker for dead

It would depend on how other teams fared, if BYU beat Ttech, allowing a second big 12 team and if Vanderbilt won and/or Michigan won this weekend, it might be enough and looking at our schedule this year id say it’d be justifiable to leave us out.

Lifelong State fan and alumn here. As from a few weeks ago with all the rosy predictions about the MSU-Georgia matchup, please stop swigging cheap liquor and take a cold shower.
Ole Miss isn't losing the Egg Bowl to a Jeff Lebby coached team. The Rebs will win easily by 2-3 touchdowns.

You’re about to see how a coach can easily tank a game. Just watch Lane tank it.
