I think it’s pretty obvious by that this is our defensive philosophy. It has worked well for us. It occurred to me today that most other teams are doing the same to us. I don’t think our points production matches our offensive production. The deep overs and dagger routes allow us to move really effectively between the 20’s, despite our running game. When the field is compressed our flaws become more obvious.

I'm not really sure we are as much of a bend don't break defense as people think. We are giving up under 300 yards per game. 13th in the nation. I think that we are just a straight up really good defense at this point.

But to your point, we are top 25 in red zone offense, and would be higher if we had a kicker worth a shite.

I expect at least 1 turnover from the auburn QB. Get him rattled no telling what he'll do. Maybe they'll even play musical QBs.

Bama has spent the last three weeks playing some of the worst offenses in college football.
AU’s gonna be wide open. Bama needs to be aggressive and not let the QB get comfortable and in a rhythm. .

Auburn s offense is below average in the conference and so is their defense.

Statistically, we should be ok.

Statistically.

Daniels can run so we will have to keep him in front of us. If we can keep him from moving the chains with his legs and also preventing big pass plays to Coleman we should be fine.

We're giving up 270 yards per game on average. Those aren't "bend but don't break" numbers as far as I'm concerned. In this modern era of college football, with the schedule we have, that's a pretty damned good defense.

We are one Saban-like defensive tackle from being dominant. We're playing this good as a defense WITHOUT one disruptive DT.

Keenan and Overton aren't disruptive?

My point was more about how we are being defended and not about how we defend. We are 34th in points per play. During the fourth quarter of the OU game they were basically running three safeties because we run the same deep overs and daggers. There’s no run threat or many slants so the defense can cover back to front. We don’t have a reliable quick passing game to beat the blitz or force the safeties in the box. Auburn and anybody else we play will run the same concepts if we can’t run or quick pass them out of it.
It’s similar to our bball team when teams run us off of the 3 point line. We don’t have a mid range shooter to make them pay.

Not on the level of a lot of the dominant DT's that were on some of Sabans dominant defenses. I dont see a Duron Payne, Q Williams, Jonathan Allen, A'Shawn Robinson, Hand, Jesse Williams or MT Cody. And I can't remember the DT tackle who knocked out Colt McCoy and ran a TD back in the 09 title game. Its been years since we've had true dominant DT'S. We're missing one of those.

I mean you could very well be right, they do have some legit playmakers that have probably been hampered by Freeze/Arnold.

But you said that "we just played some of the worst defenses in the nation" and followed that by insinuating that Auburn's offense is good. They've been one of the worst offenses in the league the entire season. REALLY bad in the red zone, which is a strength for our defense. Sure, they put up some points against Vandy, and Mercer, but I'm not all that convinced that they've turned into some high flying offense capable of blowing up the scoreboard against a really good defense.

We shall see.

Couldn't think of his name for the life of me. LOL! Just remembered his number (#57) and knocking McCoy into the next zip code.
