Your number 1 Indiana would be boat raced by both Georgia and OSU. Rankings are crap Indiana barely squeeked by 3-6 pedo st

Why are there half wins? OT games?

bama's negative 7 points is the highest in the top 12.

If you think OSU will boat race them, OSU is favored by less than a touchdown on FanDuel right now. The expected vegas line for IU vs UGA would be IU -7.5 on a neutral field

And their points from wins is second highest.
Bama is getting absolutely hammered for their game one loss on the road to Florida State.
But last year Notre Dame was not overly penalized for losing at home to Northern Illinois.
They really need to come up with a consistent way, season to season, to rank teams.
Right now it is a very politically biased beauty pageant.

You beat an 8 win team, you get 8 points. You lose to a 8 loss team, you lose 8 points.

G5 games count 1/2. So, for example, Georgia's win over 5-5 Marshall counts for 2.5.

It’s not +8 or -8, it’s + win# for every team you beat and -loss. # for every team you lose to, minimum of 1 point

Going out on a limb here but I doubt every team on a team's schedule has 8 wins.

Wow. Yeah it does beat the Committee.
This needs to get as much publicity as any other stupid computer metrics.

Not remotely what the OP says, but it does seem to be what the OP is TRYING to say.

Everybody would jump all over Indy at -7.5.

I still believe the old BCS rankings were about as good as we've ever had - except we tried to use that system to identify TWO teams worthy to play for the NC. No ranking system is going to do that effectively with 136 teams in the FBS. But, if you look back at the BCS years you'll be hard pressed to make a case for anyone ranked lower then maybe 5 or 6 (or 6 or 7 for all the middle schoolers out there) and say they were the best team. So if we used BCS or similar to identify 12 or 16 teams for a playoff, we don't really need a committee and all the inherent bias that goes with being human.

Anyone who says things like “ team A would boat race team B” has apparently never watched more than a couple years of college football.
The past 2 Decembers all we heard was how the SEC would run thru everyone because of how hard they’ve become because of all these “ranked” teams they played. And yet, none of it materialized. NONE.
The SEC champ was beat by a team that y’all make fun of not playing anyone and not winning a Natty in decades. Yet, you just described 3/4 of the SEC. Ohio State bounced Tennessee as if they were playing Purdue. ND beat UGA like they did Navy and Ohio St beat Texas like they do Northwestern. And the year before Michigan who has no speed and is boring beat Bama as if they were Maryland.
The bottom line is the SEC has 1 team with any hope of winning a Natty in 2 months and that’s UGA. Everyone knows this. Ole Miss, AM, Bama, and whatever 5th team Sankey can strong arm into the playoffs have no chance. The SEC, outside of Kirby, is basically the league of all talk and little action.

Not sure if you meant to reply to my comment, as I didn't even mention SEC teams. I was just commenting on ranking systems.
