If you are a coach and your only goal is a NC, do you choose LSU, UF, or Texas?

I think lsu also. Lots of great talent. No instate competition. If O can win one, anyone can.

Supposedly Lane is gonna try all three. He’s gonna be the three sport all American high school athlete as a HC, except at three different universities

Texas. They want to win and money is no object to them.

The winningest coach in college football, a guy with two NCs couldn’t win it all at LSU.

I disagree.

Whorns have been throwing money at their program forever but most of the time manage to screw it up, failing to develop the talent they have or play to potential.

Too much sense of entitlement at a place where they cannot stop crowing like a rooster, "We're Texas!" as if the rest of us give a damn.

Yet you are in a thread about texas. This isn’t how you don’t give a damn.

The fighting going on in this thread is more entertaining than the subject

A few years ago the obvious answer would've been LSU. I think Texas is probably the better pick at the moment

When you compare all 3 schools it’s pretty even until you throw in the money. UF and LSU are not broke. They have plenty of money to be competitive. It’s just Texas just has more money. They all have facilities and things like that. They all reside in talent rich areas of the country. They all can recruit nationally. They all have a championship in the past 20 years or so. They all have fan support. All 3 schools listed are really close in everything until you throw in the money into the equation. It’s like I said earlier I’m not saying that UF or LSU are broke. It’s just a well known fact that Texas has access to a shite ton of money that the rest of the conference does not have unless you are talking about A&M.

LSU has positive empirical evidence. Texas does too on the negative side.
Florida has a lot of talent to recruit. So for the other two.

LSU is my pick.

This is true.

But it was also true the last 55 years and they only got 1 in that timeframe.

Something else is going on.

The problem is that the state of Texas is deep with D1 programs.

They really aren't Texas anymore. This isn't the 60's and prior Lone Star State.

When are the Longhorns and Aggies going to divvy up that PUF pie?

There is a lot more going on at Texas than just this.

Clearly. Texas has only won one NC in like 50 years… and that was with a once in a generation talent.

Money certainly helps but I think it’s tougher to buy a championship in college than the pros. And it’s tough in the pros.

Common denominator for a ship is coaching, culture, talent. Bama had all 3, Georgia and Ohio St currently have all 3. Maybe a couple others do, too. A&M appears on the way if not quite there.

To the OP’s question my guess is there’s a little less crap to deal with at LSU. Not that their fans are any less passionate but LSU owns the state, LA produces the most NFL talent per capita. And the big donors just cant be as big a pain in the arse as they are at Texas.
