Great coaches that most non-blue-blood programs are lucky to have…
But they won’t win championships and they lose high stakes games.

Kiffin did alright considering it was Ole Miss. Him and Franklin were in different situations.

Franklin's tenure at Vandy was similar

James Franklin is 4-21 against the top 10.
Josh Heupel is 3-6
Lame Kiffin is 5-6
Seems like joshy boy is more Franklin than Kiffin.

Many coaches are listed just the same as unproven of winning championship(s).

He won 10 games at Vandy?

No.
Lane has lost some high profile games, but he has won a few too.
I have never seen a Franklin coached team beat any decent college football team,…..ever.

Freeze did better at Ole Miss than anywhere else. Kiffin has done better at Ole Miss than anywhere else. Florida and LSU continue to go through coaches and buyouts. Not realizing the world has changed.
Kiffin doesn’t need to win a national title to keep his job at Ole Miss. And he knows the next move will be his last one. Anyone with a brain knows that. It will take more than a blank check to get him. Also defaulting on a coach’s buyout guarantees you are out of the running.

Hard to compare since Franklin was in the SEC East, which was the easier division, but Kiffin is in year 2 of not having to play a traditional SEC West slate.

One dynamic that’s changed in the past 15 years is that any coach can “retire” at any time once they’ve reached Power 4 level.
Kiffin could walk away today and still have generational wealth. He won’t, but he could.
The Pat Dye’s of the past couldn’t do that.
Saw it first hand with Pittman. Hit the jackpot, had fun a couple years…then, most likely subliminally…started talking about the lake house.
