Where does this season’s LSU collapse rank historically?

Preseason top 10, a QB among the Heisman favorites and a potential number 1 pick, and the winningest current coach in college football. After a week 1 victory, they received first place votes in the next two AP polls.

Now, they’ve lost their season, lost their coach, and turned on their QB.

An analogous season at Alabama might be 2000 - from preseason top 5 with a Heisman candidate in Milons to a losing season and a fired coach. We know what came next for Alabama - Fran and Mike Shula (with Price squeezed in there). What comes next for LSU?

I wouldn't call it a collapse, we were never good this season, just had hype. Although to be fair, our 4 losses are to #3, #4, #6, #16. It's not like we're losing to every team we play.

Dude this isn’t even the worse collapse lsu has had in the last decade. 2020-2021 Ed O was way worse than this.

Alabama started out at #5 last season and finished at #17 with 4 losses...the most losses Alabama had suffered in about 17 years.

A lot of Tide fans were calling for their first year coach to be fired.

It was a down year for sure. Georgia must’ve kicked our butts.

Tbf, most of us wanted to see him with at least 1 to 2 more QBs to make a legit judgement (I said I’d wait 3 different QBs for final judgement). However, he absolutely made some head scratching in-game coaching mistakes…the USC game being the worst.

Penn State is 0-6 in their league after starting ranked in the top 5. I'd say that is a bit farther of a fall.

It's not the worst, but I would put it in the class of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918.

Every now and then I think that, but then I remember I might hate their gymnastics and softball teams even more, so it's good bad things happen in the fall.

Ah yes. The high standards Alabama sets for themselves. used to be championships. It's now "If we can just beat Georgia!"

Never mind we made the playoffs and Alabama didn't. You beat Georgia!

I remember when Tide fans ran around yelling, "You can't have the playoffs without Alabama!" Wonder what happened to that?

Aggy 2022 and Whornsy 2010 would beat them in on the field but the buyout dipshittery may push LSU into the lead....
