Crazy most if not all of that stuff was on display in the BAC and coach's office under Nutt.

Pretty sure I’d take Bazzel as our AD tomorrow

I’d be a little concerned with his lack of experience, but his work ethic would negate that a lot I think.

In an isolated situation where it's between HY and Bazzel exclusively, I'd take Bazzel in a heartbeat.

Let’s just say Bazzel as AD isn’t as crazy as hiring Chad Morris or John Pelphrey for the respective positions they were hired for.

I mentioned on another thread but we need the next AD to have some AR roots or connections to the program.

Also why does it seem we fail so miserably on the small things? Hell have events a few times a year that highlight previous teams, show game footage and interview some of the key players on stage. Raise money for NIL. Plenty of fans would love to hear stories from memorable games/ seasons, especially with where the program is currently.

Baseball and basketball ( depending on the coach) have always done a better job than football about recognizing our history.

Ties into another discussion we were having about getting more instate talent. NIL alone isn’t gonna cut it if you don’t build a culture that has some pride about being a Razorback. You can’t buy that and yet it doesn’t cost anything.

If AD is going to be relegated to non revenue hires and fund raising, as I think most will be in the NIL era, then Baz isn't an awful choice. It would depend on what his relationship is with power boosters.

He is well liked across the state and nationally and could rally the wide net of support that we need right now

I have no idea if DB would be a solid AD hire or not.... I will say he wouldn't be worse than HY.

We lost the pulse of the state between Long and HY. There is no connection to the people of Arkansas. You've got to bring the Madre Hill, DMac, JWright, Matt Jones, Hillis, etc type guys back around the program consistently. And not just football.
Cal is doing it in BBall..... bringing back the basketball guys and making connections.

STAND ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS!!!!!!!

I agree we need someone who can engage the whole state again. Feels like this program forgot how to do that or doesn't care to anymore. Maybe it really isn't worth it in today's college football. If not what the hell is the point of this? Making people from outside the state rich? Part of me wants us to get left behind in the coming D1 split

Do you mind explaining this to me like I'm 5.

There's not a kid on this team or future teams that have a clue who these folks are. And my guess is they probably don't give two shits as long as they're paid.

It's time for all this nostalgia bs to stop if they're serious about football.

Thanks

Program culture still matters even in the age of NIL. Florida St and Florida among many others are proof of that. Money doesn't instill a sense of pride that will compel you to fight the same way.

We're hiring Baz as AD, Gus as HC, BLJ as OC and Rob Smith as DC and riding this nostalgia train right off the cliff!!!

Then Long replaced Broyles and didn’t need 50+ years of legacy overshadowing him.

Should be a big 3 athletic director, which is just fund raising for those 3 sports. Then a regular AD that does all the other bullshite. Most of which I still believe comes to an end as we start taking the funding for the big 3. Keep whatever sports/scholarships that are needed to offset title ix but get rid of the others.

Eventually the big 3 will be rolled off the athletic department anyway.

I don’t know if Bazz could be AD. I do know ours is failing. Hasn’t set up a football GM only, didn’t talk to Stephens or other money managers in Arkansas to set up NIL. All of this could have and should have been done in 20-21.

I do know Houston Nutt, Bazz, Nolan, Anderson, and others should be in our NIL raising all year long. Giving meetings like TD club, golfing events, etc…

Sure, you made my point for me.
We lost our culture. Our current kids don't know our legends. They don't know the tradition and don't know why the helmet matters. Say what you want about HDN and co. but it mattered and they made it matter. The captured lightning in a bottle. BP built on that and took it to the next level. Had us teetering on the brink of elite status until that fateful "motorcycle crash" or whatever you would like to call it.
The fact that our kids don't know those guys says we lost our way and the record speaks for itself. We are better when the state is united. Argue all you want but the numbers prove it and always have.
Yeah it may look a little different with NIL, but we still need Arkansas talent to make it work so we had better figure it out.
