The players want Durkin. This is important. The real question is who is going to run the offense AND recruit at a high level.

Its not. The players always want the most well liked coach on the staff.

The players loved Freeze too. The players loved Gus. The players love every coach not named Byron Haskins.

Never forget that LSU's players carried Les freaking Miles off the filed and saved his job that one year when he was going to get fired.
He inevitably got fired anyway like a year later.

The players wanted Cadillac and fortunately that didn’t happen. Saved the university even more embarrassment.

Not sure I could possibly care less about who the players want

Is that going to make them block better?

Buying in on a coach is important but we definitely do NOT need to hitch our wagon to who the team likes considering none of these teenagers are loyal to a school anymore. Sure there are outliers, but most are following the $

The players wanted Cadillac last go-round.
Had Auburn's PTB caved to the players then we would, somehow, be in an even worse spot than we already are now.
Durkin may get the job. But hiring him "for the players" shouldn't even be a factor in calculus.

I like Durkin and I think there was a time this was more important, but these players are gonna mostly be gone in a year with how things work nowadays
I don't think that's a good reason anymore

If the players really want him, there is something they can do. Win out. That would really help him towards getting the job. They've got the ball.

Offense and Defense practiced together most of this week, they are really doing what they can to make this a full team again.

Players wanting Durkin is not the most important thing but it’s a point in his favor.
