There is no jinx. It is not a gimmick. Fans love it. Players love it. Recruits love it. It is time!

Red jerseys. Silver britches.

You want a black out, dress in black and go to the game

How about if we go 9-1 in our next 10 games against Bama we can bring back the blackout jerseys lol
Edit: always love seeing a mass downvote of everyone in the thread without replying

Or get blackout drunk, that would also work.

Geez. I’m at the point where just schedule it ahead of time before the season so we can stop hearing about it.

Seems like it should be one of three games: (1) home opener; (2) homecoming; (3) final home game of season. Of the three, I'd pick homecoming, but ultimately, yeah - just make it a fixed game and leave it at that.

Does blackout mean that fans wear black or the players wear black?
There's a big difference.

Not sure why so many are against it. It was one game 15 years ago that we lost. Haven't we won every time since then while wearing black?
I think it is a cool gimmick depending on the game. But some fans get butt hurt because they think that somehow it impacts the play on the field.
That team in 2008 vs. Bama was just not prepared which was typical of Richt in big games. Nothing to do with the color of the jerseys.
Same thing going on with Deboer and his hoodie. When he wore it and lost, the Bama fans cursed him for looking stupid and taking a loss. Now, it gets its own segment on Game Day and those same fans are mad if he doesn't wear the hoodie.

like it or not, perception is reality and the perception is that if we change our jersey color (regardless of the reason) it would be seen as needing some extra juice or motivation. You're right we are 5-1 in them and the jerseys have less than zero to do with why we lost in 2008. The times we've worn them since:
-2016 against a total scrub so no talks of "fake juice"
-2020 at night at home against MSU. Covid season so everything was kinda wonky
-2020 bowl game. Again a quarter full crowd in a weird situation overall.
If we were to wear them for example this weekend against Texas, it just looks like "oh look at Georgia needing to pull out the alternate unis to help them beat Texas". I disagree with that mindset, but that's what much of america would believe. And heaven forbid we lose in them it's all anyone would talk about.
As has been mentioend many times before, I adore the black jerseys and want to wear them so what makes the most logical sense is to do one of two things. either have it be a standing appointment like the last home game each year (makes the most sense IMO), the first night game of the year, whatever. Or just designate an annual blackout game in like the spring. All these schools like Tenn, OU, AU, etc that have super well done and expertly cooridnated fan color coding don't just do it lazily the week of the game like our halfassed stripeout, they start letting fans know when they get their season tickets. They plaster it all over social media from like March all the way to game time so people are aware MONTHS in advance. On that note, if we picked some random game and let people know "hey we're doing a blackout for [this game]", I think it'd take a lot of the fake juice out of it.

I am with you, I think a yearly game known in advance to make it more fun for the fan experience goes along way. Extra fan juice, means louder stadium, means false starts and helps the team.
Tenn does a great job and their production. Personally, I think they have too many options they incorporate, but its pretty cool nonetheless.

Let's go the opposite direction and do a white out. All white unis would look sick.
