What does it say that Freeze was so much more successful at Ole Miss than Auburn?

Does it mean it's easier to win at Ole Miss than Auburn now?

This. Freeze’s top skill was running bag men, a talent rendered obsolete by recent rule changes.

Defenses hadn’t figured out how to defend the kind of offense he runs yet when he was at Ole Miss.

I think it was a combination of things. He was 10-15 years younger, actually loved and grew up an Ole Miss fan living less than an hour from Oxford, and had all of the boosters on his side not breathing down his neck. Not having cancer probably helped too.

Freeze isn’t a terrible coach but I think it became apparent pretty quick he didn’t have the same fire or desire to win at Auburn as he did here. I really do think the pressure from the boosters got to him

Big difference is Bo Wallace and Chad Kelly vs Peyton Thorne and Jackson Arnold. The critical error was giving Thorne a second season.

The biggest differences are this:

1. At Ole Miss, our fans appreciate 10 win seasons and don't fire coaches for them.
2. At Ole Miss, we don't think we are Alabama like Auburn does.
3. At Auburn, they have one rich redneck that owns a lumber yard and runs the program. We don't have that at Ole Miss.
4. At Ole Miss, we have never hired any of Auburn's sloppy seconds coaches. At Auburn, they covet our current and ex coaches....Tuberville, Kiffin (they failed on that one) and Freeze. HAHAHA!

The inferiority at Auburn is thick. They think they are something they never have been. Always in Bama's shadow in the past, present, and foreseeable future.

It says that Freeze was unwilling or unable to adapt his offense over the last 10 years, and SEC defenses today have no problem picking it apart. This is also why other offensive minded coaches from a bygone era like Norvell and Gus aren’t doing well.

While I agree it seems like there's some serious toxicity down on the plains with the meddling boosters, you have to take that into consideration when comparing the two jobs.

You can really see why someone like Kiffin would prefer Ole Miss the way the sport works now.

Ole Miss doesn’t have the pressure. That is why Lane is happy there

It begs the question, why is there any more pressure at Auburn at this point? Ole Miss's football program has been comfortably clear of them for years now.

It really seems like the Auburn fanbase needs a hard reset when it comes to expectations.

DING DING DING. Look, at Ole Miss, Lane is the King. The boosters give him the money he wants and he does what he wants with it. The Chancellor and the Athletic Director give Lane carte blanche to run the program any way he sees fit.

You really think LSU or Florida will let Lane run the show? How about their boosters? Hell, in Louisiana, how about their Governor? There is one job in college football that has always been the one we all knew Lane would leave us over and that is Alabama. Much as LSU and Florida like to think they are on that level, they never have and never will be on Alabama's level.

This is why they fail. And then arrogantly think they can poach coaches from other SEC institutions and have instant success that rarely pans out.

Cold hard reality. Florida was an also ran in the SEC until Spurrier. Look at their history. Nothing blue blood about it. LSU has always had the potential to be as good as any of the true blue bloods, but they are stuck with ignorant coon arse leadership. Corruption and stupidity is just what they are. I'll add Auburn. The biggest joke in the conference. They think they are Bama and not only are they not, they never were or will be.

It's actually delicious to watch all of this shite.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Ole Miss has won the conference 6 times. Auburn, "the blue blood" didn't surpass Ole Miss until after Bo Jackson played.

You've had flashes, but the truth is, Shug Jordan was Bear Bryant's bitch. I know it, everyone knows it, and deep down, you Aubie's know it too.

Lane has control and support at Ole Miss, something Auburn can't and won't give him.

Fit. Simple. He was one of y'all. He never fit at Ole MIss. Boone flew to the West Coast to bring back Dennis Erickson and brought O instead.
