So Non-LSU folks think canning Woodward was a sign of turmoil?

I get celebrating a season going down the drain for the Tigers, but how exactly are we arriving at that conclusion? Shitcanning the guy responsible for the 2 worst football coaching buyouts in history seems like the right move before signing the next coach.

I don't know. How about doing it professionally instead of popping-off to some reporter and then doing it days later?

In addition, everyone is complaining about these buyouts but that is what the market demanded at the time. Does anyone believe that the next LSU, Florida, Arkansas, etc. coach won't have a guaranteed contract?

I think it's a sign of good governance. LSU has been wasting taxpayer funds by agreeing to outrageous buyouts for obviously subpar coaches.

Probably should have kept BK until season was over if they didn't have their ducks in a row. Imho.

I'm no expert on college politics but to not having a President or an AD, and recruiting for a football coach while the Governor of LA is making public statements is a pretty good sign of problems.

Certainly not a death sentence but a sure sign that it may take a year or two to settle down while everyone new adjust to each other.

Previous two won Nattys. Anyone not named Bama would have taken Les or O’s record at LSU.

I liked him. Mulkey, Johnson, the gymnastics guy, etc. and trolling aside I didn’t expect Kelly to fall flat on his arse the way he did. The contract was a disaster but I guess that’s what these guys command now

No President, no AD, just a bunch of appointments to pick a football coach. Nothing could possibly go wrong

Get the popcorn

OK, so I was way out of the loop yesterday. Was not aware of the governor and board shenanigans. Canning Woodward still seems like a necessary step despite the poor handling by the Gov.

He wasn't even responsible for Jimbo's extension... But was an LSU alum? Seemed personal... Idfk

Everything that has happened at LSU over the last week isn’t anything that hasn’t happened before in college athletics. It’s probably relatively tame by comparison to many instances of politicians, boosters, etc stepping in and throwing weight around.

The difference is that Louisiana is an overly dramatic states. They can’t keep from airing their dirty laundry and being overly flamboyant about it. That is particularly true with their politicians. Just my opinion.

It's fricked up where I live, but that's just how it is. It might be new to you, but it's been like this for years.

Looking for clarification…

Did Woodward resign, or was he fired?

Does that distinction impact Woodward’s buyout?

The turmoil comes in from them not having 53 million dollars. They’re going to have to come up with it and pay it from boosters, likely impacting the upcoming recruiting/retention calendar for at least this year in addition to limiting your options in hiring your next guy. They’ll probably be ok in the long run but the short term hurt is going to significant.

Dude was working against the governor's selection for President and get one of his liberal buddies in there. Likely with the same agent Woodward, Kelly, and Nussmeir all have.

He bought this smoke himself.

Dude, they have the money. Nothing is coming out of LSU for the buyout.

Process matters. Having the governor go out and do his Huey Long impression is not a good thing.

Now, is it cataclysmic? Probably not; LSU should still be able to hire a decent coach. But, in a competitive market, it's definitely not a plus, and probably puts the LSU job squarely behind Florida in the eyes of most big time targets as to which is the better job. It may even put LSU behind Penn State.

Tell me you do not know how this works without telling me you do not know how this works....

This is not complicated people. The AD that hires a coach for 10 mill a year for 10 years with a massive buyout at LSU, better hope that coach delivers. Because their fates are tied together; especially after what was witnessed in TS last Saturday night.

If you do not want that risk, then do not take that job.

Who is "they"? The taxpayer? It's free, right? Just like food stamps.
