What do you consider a successful season for your team?

Now that the playoffs are here I could see some schools being perfectly content on just reaching them.

All or nothing?

Just beat the rivals?

Bowl game?

I think, in this day in age, consistently beating rivals and making the playoffs is a successful season.

Keep doing that, and one of the days, your school will go on a streak and win it.

Before the season, it was pretty clear that we needed at least an 11-1 regular season, given that Marcel was such a Heisman frontrunner and we had such lofty expectations to finish at or near the top of the SEC standings.

For me, making the playoffs will do. Winning a playoff game would be a great stretch goal. Further? that's just gravy.

Given the state of Texas A&M's football program over the last 20 years, I'd say success is pushing past our previous best in the modern era.

This year that would mean a regular season of 10+ wins. Making an SECCG would be a huge plus. But at the bare minimum, making it to the playoff. If we made it and lost in the first round, I'd probably still consider that success given the improvement. But the bar of success would then be raised.

Personally I like setting goals that will lead to the playoffs/playoff success some years without making that the bar. Even at 12 teams you can be a deserving team that is good enough to make a run and not make it (Ole Miss last year). If it gets to 16 or more teams, playoffs every year is the goal.

Until then:

-Beat more rivals than you lose to.

-Maintain a high winning % at home

- go .500 or better on the road against good teams

Putting context to Alabama's situation, a successful season would be making the playoffs and winning a game or two. This is DeBoer's second season and considering our running game is utter crap, I just can't expect to go deep into the playoffs. Unranked South Carolina did a pretty good job of limiting our offense for big chunks of the game because we couldn't effectively run the ball. Better teams will do an even better job at doing that.

For me same as always. 10 wins and finish in the top 10. We should be competing for sec championships nearly every year and in the national championship discussion at least every 3-5 years.

Handicapped for year to date?

A playoff spot would be huge, but we'll need some chaos.

I think a great bowl game win against another really good, bubble team is the bar.

We’re Alabama so we’re not really judged like the rest of you. Alabama is criticized for what most of you dream of. Alabama will always be the standard in college football.

No way I would coach at Alabama ever!!!!
