Am I the only one old enough to remember when LSU was just a team in the SEC

It is not like we should not expect this again.

Saban changed their life.

In.
They like to thump their chests, but they were nothing but just another SEC team until Saban came along. Their last NC before that was 1958.

Breathing in all that swamp methane leads to delusions of grandeur.

LSU has won 3 natty's with 3 different coaches, 2 of whom were not great and probably not even good coaches, in the last 22 years. That's damned impressive. Like UGA had Alabama not been on a historic run of domination during most of that period LSU would probably have a couple of more natty's in that time frame. I am about as far from being a LSU fan as a person can get but in recent history LSU has been one of the top 2-3 teams in the SEC more seasons than not.

They still are...

I don't know what all of these schools are thinking getting rid of coaches who have been pretty damned successful and consistently so in the current era of college football. It may work out well but at least some of them are going to wind up wondering in the darkness like Nebraska and Tennessee.

I’m ok with LSU being new money

LSU has had massive success in the last 20 years. 3 titles with 3 different coaches.
alabama was awful for 20+ years before saban rescued them. all programs have peaks and valleys

Correct. Georgia hadn't won a championship since the early 80's. Teams have peaks and valleys.

Did you forget we won a national title in 1992 under Gene Stallings? It was not 20+ years. We also won the SEC in 1999.

Ole Miss has been irrelevant for my entire life.
LSU took Ole Miss trash…the worst coach in Ole Miss history (and that is saying a lot)….and won ANOTHER National Championship and produced the GOAT CFB Team.
Do you remember that?

Florida was a JAG before Spurrier.

What do the yellow and blue colors represent, and why don't we see those on Ole Miss's past schedules?

LSU Football did not start in 1980. I have been attending games since 1960 (I was 9 then.) From 1958 to 1973 LSU was a top 4 team in the SEC.
The 1990s, LSU's worst decade of football, was an aberration. Nick Saban ended that in 2000.
In the current era of SEC football (21st century), LSU has won 3 NC's second only to Alabama in the SEC and nationally.
