I think rival fans had more unreasonable expectations for Saban’s replacement than bama fans.

No, I for one think Bama has one of the top coaches in College ball. Guy has won games everywhere he has been and unlike BK, who also won, the Bama coach seems like he is not a pompous jerk, understands the modern NIL and portal era and runs a really good offense.
I said that when Bama hired him. The only issue for him is how the Bama fans respond to him after having Saban running the show for so long.

That’s weird. Why would LSU and Auburn fans say bad things about Alabama? I would expect LSU and Auburn fans to love Alabama.

Alabama is 4th in the league in points allowed. One spot ahead of Auburn. In yards allowed per game, Alabama is also 4th. Two spots ahead of Auburn. Alabama is tied for 1st for most turnovers caused. Seven spots ahead of Auburn.

The D isn't really the problem, although they did break down a few times yesterday. It's the wiz kid Grubb and his apparent tendency to forget that football games last four quarters.
