What should the top 5 look like now?

Indiana doesn't appear to have any weaknesses. I'll say they should be #1.
The Aggies are looking like the class of the SEC until one of the rest of us proves otherwise.
Bama struggling last night doesn't look good for them or UGA but I'll give us both the benefit of a doubt, since we did take down a good looking Ole Miss team, which bounced back admirably yesterday in their win.
Ohio st's only win worth anything is a tough win against this Texas team that has gone into OT against the 2 worst teams in the league. They don't deserve a #1 ranking IMO.
GT's only win against a ranked team was against Clemson that has turned into a pit of bog-sludge...phfffft
Is Vandy a top 5 team?
What does your top 5 look like?

Top 5 is probably (not necessarily in order):
Ohio State
Indiana
Texas A&M
Alabama
Oregon, Georgia, Miami in the 5th spot, depending on the Saturday
TBD if BYU is for real..

This. Exactly this. A&M is for real.

Strictly speaking, Vandy isn’t a top 5 team at this moment unless they were to beat either Georgia or aTm which we won’t know until later. Definitely a top 10 team. Too much football left though. Bama and other top 10 teams could lose more games. Who knows?

No, but this was an exhausted team coming off a feat no other team had done before and on the road against a team with a very good DL.
I would have rather won by a comfortable margin, but to finish off that conference stretch undefeated is pretty damned impressive, and doesn’t take away from the fact that Alabama has two wins against top 10 teams.

1) IU
2) A&M
3) OSU
4) Bama
5) UGA
6) OM
7) Vandy
I’m tempted to drop OSU further due to their complete lack of any meaningful wins YTD, but left them at 3 due to having what’s probably the best roster in CFB.
They’re probably the most talented team in the country but at some point you have to be punished for playing a powderpuff schedule relative to the rest of the top 5.

Ohio State has been in complete control over every other team it has played, including a decent Washington and a ranked (for now) Illinois.
ETA: Illinois likely won’t be ranked after their loss to Washington yesterday.

Speaking of...did I see that stat correctly they showed at the bottom of the screen last night?...KD was 1-4 on the road against unranked teams?

Which is why I always ask what we’re ranking.
Is it the best team as of that day?
Is it the best resume YTD?
Is it both?
Because if it’s both Ohio State has a major resume problem despite being insanely talented and beating the teams they’ve played convincingly.

Probably. It’s been well known that he has had a hard time getting his teams up for perceived weaker opponents in hostile environments.
Hopefully Saturday was a step towards dropping that habit.

Good post. It has not sunk in for everyone that the days of looking pretty every week are over, especially in the SEC. College football is now just like the NFL, win and survive. That's all that counts now, the W column.

I guess GT gets the benefit of a doubt until we mop the floor with them at the end of the season. But I will point out, they had to go into OT to beat Wake Forest, who only beat that bastion of football greatness Kennesaw State 10-9. Haynes King is a good player, but they haven't looked like world beaters against hardly any of these unranked teams they've feasted on.

So he’s now 2-4 on the road and in neutral sites against unranked teams.
Conversely he has easily the best winning percentage against the top 25 and top 10 of any active coach.
It’s pretty wild along with his record with and without that black hoody but even wearing the hoody was barely enough to trump the unranked road issue.

GT had yall beat last year.

I can't put them in the top 10. Dog chit schedule.
