Good luck to whatever fan base that hires him.

He could either be motivated to redeem himself and accomplish, or he really likes money. Even if it’s the former, it remains to be seen what he does without a Heisman winner.

Hard to know what you will get until you’ve committed a shitpile of cash.

Jimbo Fisher wants to coach next season, addresses Auburn and UAB
quote:

At one point in his career, Fisher was close to being the head coach at UAB. On Monday, he noted how much he loves Birmingham and said being in town “felt like coming home.” He even reminisced about driving down Green Springs Boulevard. UAB fired coach Trent Dilfer last week. Asked about the UAB opening, Fisher said the Blazers need to figure out what they want to be.

Good post. Probably understood by folks who live in Alabama.

Some misleading stuff in the article, they keep quoting him like it’s right now but they’re using quotes from 2023 that he said

Has he been watching film of modern college offenses? He's going to fail again if he refuses to change.

It's the most deliciously Auburn hire I can imagine.

I thought for sure he'd be the next West Virginia coach before they hired Rich Rod back.

You could see flashes of Jimbo's potential at A&M.. I think he's a great coach who just wasn't hungry anymore.

Maybe being sidelined lit the spark again. He might have a few years in the tank still, but it'd have to be a good situation. I don't see him being capable of a full rebuild at this point.

If Jimbo could ever learn his lessons then I think he could be a great CEO type coach like Mack Brown was for UNC.

But I don’t think he’ll ever learn

I would not at all be surprised to see Jimbo have success at a school like Auburn. He's proven that he can be successful with the best QB money can buy, and with the new transfer portal and NIL rules that have been put into place since he got out of coaching, I could see a situation where Auburn hires him for say $6M/yr and throws a bunch of money at the best transfer QB in the portal. Auburn could do a whole lot worse than that.
