Good lord guys it's not recruiting or NIL, it is coaching. Coaching is what wins games.

Vandy had the 36th ranked transfer class with just two four stars. We were 16th with five four stars. We have double their talent, as do many teams. Coaching.

Having a ton of seniors helps too and they got them.

Less talented seniors may better than younger first year transfers yes.

They are certainly good this year but I’m not 100% buying into Vandy until they show they can sustain it after Pavia. For all the talk of football being a team sport, and it is, one big time baller like Pavia absolutely can make all the difference for the whole team. The way he plays and leads not only elevates the offense but the entire team on all sides of the ball. That’s one of the things we’ve missed for many years, true fight and leadership. He will be hard for them to replace.

Yeah it will be interesting to see if they are able to land a big time transfer QB off of this success like Indiana did off their 1 season.

Jerry Kill, who was the coach at Minnesota and then NM State has been a large factor in their success from what I've read. Dude can coach. His health issues led to him stepping down as a head coach.

Gotta have an eye for talent as well. Ignore measurables. Watch game tape. Watch that motor and how that respond to challenges. Watch on field speed and performance. It's cliche but look for guys with that dawg in them that may be a little short or a little undersized or don't have an eye popping forty in shorts that the big guys don't look twice at. Also have to have an eye for the Trey Flowers types that are still physically maturing. Look for your Darius Philon's that play bigger than they are or are tweeners for certain positions. Tony Cherico was one of the best noseguards in the history of college football at probably 5'9" and 240.

Give me 22 guys that will dig in deep, love to play/compete and are absolute badasses and you'll win some games. Got get the best PLAYERS available and find them a spot. Adjust your scheme to what talent you have. That's the coach you need.

So, part of what you’re saying is we shouldn’t let our best in-state HS talent, that have dreamed of wearing that Hog on the side of their helmet their entire life, leave to go play somewhere else because we’ve shown very little interest in them? It’s so crazy, it might just work.

You can’t win with scrubs, Vandy is winning because that OC of theirs brought in a whole team. So now it’s seniors that played together at the g5 level. Just like Cignetti.

Darius Philon

Was a star that bama asked to gray shirt because of an injury. That will never happen again.

We’re not that different than Vandy.

We just lost 3 games by a FG to 3 really good teams.

Better coach and a few better players. Landscape is completely there to compete with the right coach, program and resources.

Losing the amount of players we lost without firing our coach is what killed this team. Should have been pretty good this year.

Go with the mastermind behind Vandy's program but Jerry Kill is getting up there in years and he's been in poor health for a very long time.

Yes!!! Those guys that will literally run through a damn wall when they hear that fight song. The ones that it and the roar of a Razorback crowd and the woo pig makes their hair stand up and gets their piss hot.

Vandy is winning with an absolutely massive talent disadvantage so yes you can win with scrubs. Vandy has scrubs.

Here’s my 7 beers deep conspiracy theory. Stop going after Georgia and Florida kids. Those guys from south Florida and Georgia that actually come to Arkansas come for the bag and nothing else. They have no pride in themselves or where they play. The better ones who have heart stay closer to home.

Truth. You get an Alex Collins once in a blue moon and he wanted to get away from his crazy mama. Focus on Arkansas, east Texas, Dallas/Ft Worth, Tulsa, Memphis. Plenty of talent close to home.

Georgia, maybe, but Arkansas use to find defensive players who had a chip on their shoulder after being passed over by UGA. This is different than giving a soft landing spot for the guys who could not see the field at UGA, which is what Sam did.

Florida has no loyalty or pride for playing in the state, they will go anywhere always have always will.
