When Jam left last week’s game, Hill came in. I thought Young was next in line. I like having a bruiser like Hill. But I’m wondering what’s going on with the backfield

Richard Young just isn’t as good as the other guys yet, imo

Someone is gonna need to be able to pickup some big boy yards between the tackles and YTD that hasn’t been Riley or Young.

Listen to Ryan Grubb here. Hill has been injured, probably our most complete back outside of Jam Miller. Neither have home run speed, but neither did any of the backs DeBoer/ Grubb deployed at Washington.
We run a pass first offense with a hole or two on OL. TE and RB need to be able to both block and catch to make the offense operate with high efficiency.

On sophomore running back Daniel Hill:
"Daniel has been a guy that unfortunately has been a little bit dinged up through the first part of the year. But is a guy that, I don’t know if there’s a guy we were more optimistic about out of spring ball than Daniel. So we’re hoping that that starts to show up a little bit more here and obviously take some of the load off of Jam (Miller), but he’s a really bright player. I think Daniel is a guy that, I know Daniel is a guy that understands pressure pickups. He’s very good in pass protection. He’s got incredibly good hands. A lot of people probably don’t know that about Daniel, but he’s a good athlete. I mean, he was like a state champion, 300-meter hurdle guy. He’s kind of wild, some of the stuff he can do, so we certainly trust him to do all those things."

Young seems to be in the depths of the depth chart. Same with Washington. Havent heard anything out of him in a month or so.

Was not aware Hill was even dinged coming into this week (or RW last week for that matter).
To win three straight with the injuries we’ve had is pretty impressive.
DL/edge: short 3-4 guys with two more coming back off injuries
WR: short another 2-3 guys
RB: down our RB1 and RB2

Eh, I wouldn't get too worried about Dear. He just needs reps, reps and more reps in practice. I suspect we'll see a lot more of him next Spring and Fall. He does have that the speed to take it to the house but there's a lot more to it than just running fast/hard. I suspect it's the pass protection part of the game he's still learning. Hell, even Derrick Henry didn't play early because he didn't pass protect well.

Dear is a guy who maybe could play some if a TE and RB weren’t needed in pass protection or at least a chip every passing down. Maybe if Carroll seizes RT capably then you can think about bringing Dear out there for the run game snd pass catching.

Proctor

Gotta be careful with Proctor. With as thin as teams are these days more defenses are going to play like Mizzou where they’re hitting high or low and late as they can get away with to knock your guys out. We haven’t even settled RT. Absolutely cannot afford to lose him.

Hill moved the pile a bit. If I’m not mistaken he got a few carries before Jam went down

Unless there is a series of injuries, he'll likely not see much time until next season. He has homerun capability, but there's a lot more to the position that he needs time with.
I'll leave it up to the guys whose multi-million dollar a year salaries are on the line to make the call as to when someone is ready to see the field.

People actually confused why 6 running backs aren’t getting touches in one possession SEC games?

This is the most important for our passing game. A guy that can handle rushers in the backfield. Protect Simpson and give him time I am not sure a team can stop our offense. He reminds me of Fowler when he is in.
