Why is Oregon getting a pass?

They have played a laughable schedule. They had to go to OT to beat a bad PSU team and Okie St is so bad that they fired the coach mid-season. Not to mention, Oregon has a history of being overrated. The remaining schedule is Charmin soft, including another (toilet) paper tiger in Indiana.

Their win against Penn State is alot less impressive

There's an argument that Penn State had a predictable let-down game following a very emotional loss to Oregon.

The entire Big 10 gets a pass. SEC needs to nut up and push the chips in on more favorable playoff considerations (more teams guaranteed) otherwise you give Oregon and OSU and a round robin on BIG teams a free pass each and every year, plus Notre Dame.
Honestly to balance it out Texas and OU probably should have joined the BIG (this isn't Texas hubris its to make the conference more balanced).

Emotional loss in your white out game with the entire country watching, then you go cross country to play against a team with a new playcaller so the film may not have been as relevant. Certainly has the ingredients for a trap game.

Against 0-4 UCLA? Time will tell but UCLA is pretty bad.
CFP is an emotional game so maybe upsets happen but that was a bad loss for sure.

Oregon beat a good Penn State team on the road at night during their annual whiteout. I know we're all dunking on PSU right now (as we should), but acting like that win now means nothing is ridiculous

They haven't lost and pre season rankings. A&M hasn't played anyone and they've shot up to #5. Are they getting a pass? Oklahomas best win is Michigan, are they getting a pass? Ole Miss beat LSU (a solid argument can be made that they're over rated), are they getting a pass?
Its too early to be trying to compare SOS considering most teams just got into conference play.

That ucla loss is inexcusable. UCLA is awful and is probably the worst P4 team, and bottom 10 overall D1 team.
They had not led in any game this year until Pedo st, and they played some bad teams.

Because once you get in a few games of your season, you don't typically get a reevaluation of how good your wins really were until you lose a game. That seems to be how it is the vast majority of the time

Take it a step further, who has Michigan beat to deserve their ranking? Who has LSU beat to deserve their ranking?
Again, it's way to early in the season to try and compare SOS.

I totally agree, and I got down-voted recently for asking who they have played that's any good. For the record, I think Oregon is very talented, but they haven't played anyone that I would consider to be good.

I can see that, but you don't have a let-down game against arguably the worst P4 team who has been a complete trainwreck and won't come close to sniffing a bowl game. A let-down game is what happens when you lose to a lower-tier bowl team (6-8 wins), not a loss to a team that'll only be a 3 win club.
