Behind the end zone. This needs to be addressed immediately.

Honestly I don’t think it’s that far off the field

Someone needs to call NASCAR and get some of those safer barriers. That’s brutal, inexcusable really.

The OU stadium had a track around the field up until ‘00 or so. I wonder why this wasn’t considered a hazard before now.

I have to think all programs need to look at such things in the future. This sport is dangerous enough as is.

That’s horrible. Hope he recovers.

A&M had issues when we had friggin concrete around the field. Players would hit that in cleats and feet would slide right from under them.

There are too many people on the sidelines that don’t need to be there.

The G-force generation from slamming into a brick wall at full speed is much higher than going into a player.

Had his velocity and speed been higher, he could have easily fractured his skull or had a spinal cord injury. It’s a miracle that he was still walking after that.

I mean, I feel like there shouldn’t be fields in the Big Ten, Big 12, or any other conference in all divisions with a brick wall 10 yards from the end zone.

Just pad them with wrestling mat type of durable foam. It couldn't hurt and maybe do some advertising or logo placement at the same time. Simple, this ain't rocket surgery.

What is REALLY crazy is when they configure Wrigley Field for football. They played a lot of games there back in the day. Now, the setup has a brick wall only 3-4 feet off the back of the end zone. They actually played a major game there a few years ago "one way", with teams constantly flipping directions to head towards the opposite end of the field. Makes one wonder how many times that wall got pounded in years past.

The got rid of the track and lowered the field in 1948-49. It's been that tight ever since...or within a brick's width.

They bricked the plain wall in the late '90s or early 2000s, either when they built the first Switzer Center or during the 2003 renovation that added the east-side upper decks.

Either way, it needs padding at the very least. I don't know of any serious injuries caused by the wall, but it's clearly a possibility.

South Carolina at one point had some kind of fence about the same distance from the back of the endzone. One of Bama's WRs had a similar injury.

This reminds me why they don’t put netting around baseball fields, but complain about balls/bats should be controlled.
