Seems like Ole Miss is getting greatly rewarded for a close win at home...

While, simultaneously, LSU is getting penalized severely for the loss.

If the loss was so bad for LSU, why is Ole Miss benefiting so much from it?

It was a five point loss against a rival in a hostile environment.

Both teams looked awful. Neither is winning anything.

Happens all of the time when lower ranked teams beat top 5 teams. They get glorified and the top 5 team gets piled on. It’s mob mentality.

That being said, the final score isn’t indicative of how bad we physically dominated LSU. Us having a fumble inside the 5 yard line and 14 penalties kept it closer than it should have been

I don't get this line of thinking. I thought Ole Miss looked pretty good. Moved the ball at will for most of the game and stifled LSU defensively for most of the game.

Where did Ole Miss look bad? The refs deciding to get involved with 10 holding penalties shouldn't reflect too much on Ole Miss.

Be careful. Ole Miss fans have had a conniption fit on Facebook for saying they are overrated at # after brilliant one score victories at powerhouse UK, and home against the might pig sooie, and at home against the most powerful offense in the country from LSU. 3 one score wins against bad to mediocre conference teams obviously means your the 4th best team in the country because you beat up on Tulane at home.

So, one possession losses are not arse whoopings anymore?

But, to your question, it may have to do more with future schedules of the two and expectations of the voters. Or, as we see every poll, retards with no set mental model or methodology for consistent voting that makes any sense are allowed to vote.

Yes I’m melting. Maybe you can hang a ranked #4 banner next to your co-sec west champs banner because you witnessed a 5-0 start. I never witnessed any success at LSU in any sport ever.

I personally don't think a #4 ranking is deserved for us, feels like we're jumping too high too fast. I do think the shine is off LSU because the offense has just looked putrid in every game outside of SE Louisiana. Voters don't like teams that can't score and can't run the ball, hence why LSU dropped outside the top 10.

I'd want to talk about the good ol' days after my team just lost to a bitter rival too.

Last year lsu fans were beating their chest over a 3 point OT comeback win at home. But now a 5 point win where we dominated every statistical category is suspect? Sure, Jan

I agree that there seems to be too much noise for a game where Ole Miss was favored by 1.5-2.5 points. Basically, they covered the spread, so why all the excitement either way.

Bitter rival?

Man I wasn’t alive for the 50s and 60s. Ole Miss is just another SEC game to me. I grew up with Auburn Florida and Bama having all the meaning.

We had like 15 penalties and lost the turnover battle and still won, yall were lucky it was that close. We fumbled going in to score.

Yall had 50 rushing yards. The game wasn’t as close as the score.
