Texas is about to get exposed worse than LSU

Its a complicated situation with them.
With even an average passing game they're elite.
But their passing game isn't really even average and their running game isn't nearly good enough to win most games against other elite teams.
Much like LSU it doesn't mean they cant figure it out, but right now I would pick a lot of teams to beat them head to head.

Texas now has eight SEC games in a row. I think this makes them less likely to get to Atlanta among these other possibilities: 'Bama, Georgia, Oklahoma and Ole Miss. All the other teams have a cupcake or two to relieve the pressure.

We had this a few years back. It was damned brutal.
Welcome to the SEC

Can we book mark this so every SEC fan doesn't whine about "Texas has a cupcake SEC schedule"
Sounds like some of y'all are starting to remember the claim that an SEC schedule is actually hard.
Also I think we drop 2 and we will see what 9-3 gets us, likely a N6 bowkl but out of Playoff.

This year, I think there are at least 14 SEC teams that can line up and beat any of the others on a given Saturday. I've never seen the league as deep as it is now.

I agree and this is 100% why Texas fans are so excited to be out of the Big 12. Even if we moved to the Big 10 or went Independent you wouldn't have that kind of parity or exciting fanbases to play.
Imagine for a second having to play Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech, TCU, and Oklahoma state over and over and over again. Probably not too excited about any road trips and definitely not pumped to play the above week in and week out. Sure, half those may be ranked in a given year but its not near the spark the SEC brings.

9. Georgia
11. Tennessee
12. Oklahoma
16. Vanderbilt
17. Missouri
19. LSU
24. Auburn
32. South Carolina
That’s Bamas SEC schedule. Our “easy games” are 16, 17 and 32 nationally.
You aren’t playing that so yes you can still be accused of having a relatively easy schedule for the SEC.

I don't think I understand this.
In FEI for example, considering a 'good' team, State (4-1) has 1.18 expected losses (as GLS), which results in a 0.18 GLD.
Kansas State (2-3) is sitting at the same FEI but with -2.03 GLD.
How can two vastly different SOS/R have the same FEI?

At least we're better than Florida. ;(

Welcome to the SEC
We do have a bye week in there.
10/4 @ Florida
10/11 Oklahoma (Dallas)
10/18 @ Kentucky <--- trap game at night
10/25 @ Miss State
11/1 vs Vanderbilt (next game in Austin)
11/8 BYE
11/15 @ Georgia
11/22 vs Arkansas
11/28 vs Texas A&M
If we are good, we'll win 6 or 7 games.
If we aren't, we'll still beat A&M.

I think you are comparing two different ratings that are not related to each other.
FEI = OFEI + DFEI + SFEI
State = .17 + .19 + .04 = .39 (rounded)
KSU = .02 + .31 + .05 = .39 (rounded)
State is 1 spot above them due to rounding. We don't see all the digits.
----------
number of losses a team
ELS = two standard deviations above average
GLS = one standard deviation above average
ALS = average team
would expect to have against the schedule of opponents
State performs better than KSU in all but ALS.
-------
Either way, I don't think you can compare these stats, even though they are all on the same page together.
eta: key word = "think" as I don't know the answer for sure

Makes sense (even though I don't see why they choose to do that).
Thanks for taking the time to write all that out.

This is what I believe too. If Arch starts clicking and we get our two main backs back, we have a high ceiling that is top 10 worthy.
Arch just needs to have fun playing the game and Sark needs to put the team in a position to win with great play calling.

I'm surprised that Vandy is just 16.

Vandy should be number 1.

They’ve played a pretty poor slate of opponents so far.
