Not my data.. just posting what I found on BCF Toys
Still early and a lot of games to be played, but the SEC CCG and National Championship participants prove that this is an important metric.
You need a good FEI rating to compete for either.

Yeah, no SEC team except Ole Miss and South Carolina has played even 3 conference games yet. That metric is useless at this point in the season.

Ope, my bad.
*Most SEC teams.

I’d be teal interested to see the math behind the metric that has a two loss ND team at 5.

OM is 3-0 in the conference

You also need a larger sample size beyond September to help the metrics be more indicative of future results. Way too early.

I agree, but that ranking should help A&M as the season goes along.

Which is why I said that there are still a lot of games to be played, but it's an important metric to track. You can't go back in time unless you compile the data like I did. Now we have a baseline to use as the season moves along.

Sam Houston ranked 129. Remember them? They're the team Arch got healthy on.
OU's opponent this week is dead fricking last.
Quite the scheduling.

Buried in those ratings is Texas’ SOS being #102 in the nation thus far. Yowzers.

FEI still had Bama top 5 going into UGA last week when everyone else had them DOA.
Relative performance during non blowout minutes matters even against bad teams.
Are the metrics where they'll be week 10? Absolutely not.
Are they the most relevant metric next to vegas lines to predict how teams will perform? Yes.

If we are being honest what should matter is to do quartiles or something like they do in College Basketball or do SOS with only P4 opponents.
the general question is whats a more difficult schedule?
Team A plays #1, #130, #100, and #101
Team B plays #50, #75, #90, and #110
Based on most metrics Team B is more difficult but I would argue Team As is significantly more difficult given you are playing a top team. However, most SoS data would disagree as they are simply averages.

Texas is the only team that hasn't played 1 SEC game yet.
The SOS will work itself out in the next 8 games.

Cool. We can use the game to promote Reed as the Heisman frontrunner.

It's funny because they are BOTH playing those games BEFORE they play us.

They scored a combined 3 points on offense against us last year. They need all the help they can get.

I would too. They’re 3 in Sagarin , 6 in espn FPI and high in another one I never even heard of. Does anyone know why they score so high in the formula based rankings?

Initial conditions haven't washed out yet? If I recall, Sagarin warns about the model for x number of weeks into the season.
