Hate to say it. But, between how Bobby P handled messaging and his decisiveness in fixing the defensive side of the ball, Arkansas made the right move. They've gone from a team that was starting to check out to season spoiler specialist. Looking forward to 11/22, Hogs.

Huge upgrade with Petrino imo. They might be dangerous now.

I still don't expect too much out of this season, but if we end up retaining him I think we'll be better than we have been.

I don't expect 2010-2011 levels, but consistently being at the 2009 level where we went 8-5 is a very realistic expectation, IMO. If the 10 and 11 win seasons come then awesome.

Some people like to talk about Bobby as if he's just forgotten how to coach, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

His plan to fix the D is to "get into a great stance, get into a great alignment, run full speed to the football, shed blocks, and tackle well."

Yeah this guy's a genius.

Yeah, they almost always like to point at his last season at Louisville, right after his dad died. They completely overlook the fact that he had 8 and 9 win seasons the first 4 seasons of his second stint there.

The man has literally only had 3 losing and 1 break even season out of 17 seasons as a college HC.

Only time will tell what happens the remainder of this season (not expecting and miracles) or in the future if he gets the job permanently. But it does at least appear that people with the ability to make things happen are tired of the recent status quo and ready to step up for the right HC, whether it's Bobby or not.

I agree but I’m tempering my expectations. A lot of Bobby’s success came from being OCD about every aspect of the team, instilling mental toughness and work ethic. You can listen to former players talk about how that all started in camp and how much of a hardass Bobby was during it.

I just don’t if you can instill that mentality in a team mid-season, but I’m sure he’ll try

Yeah this guy's a genius.
All things we aren't currently doing.

Did you expect him to lay out the defensive scheme in a press conference or something?

You could say he underperformed because he has Lamar Jackson for 2 years and never won 10 games

And I really doubt he’s going to change up the scheme that much midseason so really fundamentals are all he can try to fix, and we happen to badly need that

You could say that. Or you could remember he was at fricking Louisville

Louisville has won 10 games or more 7 times in their entire history. Bobby Petrino is responsible for two of them.

I mean, if his 2010 or 2011 teams played at basically any other time in the SEC West, he might have had a natty. The level of competition he won against was unprecedented.

He might be a total prick, but he's a winner. And he clearly has unfinished business. The only question is whether the game has passed him by. (I'm kind of worried it has tbh. But he deserves a shot to prove me wrong)

Unless he can figure out how to make players try on defense, it's more of the same
