From Pete Fiutak at College Football News (not who he WANTS to get in or thinks SHOULD get in, but his prediction of who DOES get in):
CFN playoff prediction
If this actually happens, a lot of people around here will lose their minds, and rightly so. 11-2 Iowa State, 10-2 Notre Dame, and 10-3 Georgia Tech would likely have ZERO ranked wins between them. If they get in over, hypothetically, 3-loss Oklahoma, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, Missouri, and/or Ole Miss teams, look out...

SEC will kill itself. Getting through conference with less than two losses will be difficult

A 3-loss conference championship game loser will get in over a 3-loss team that didn't play in their CCG.
They probably won't get in over a 2-loss team.
If Tennessee or Bama is sitting at 10-2, they'll get in over a 10-3 GT who lost their CCG.

Would be almost unimaginable for the SEC to only get 2 teams in. My guess is Bama or 10RC also makes the field.

If they can't beat Miami and TAMU handily, which are very good, but not great, teams, there's no way they're making it through the gauntlet of the playoffs to get to the natty.

Notre Dame should be out of the conversation at this point. They have lost both of the games on their schedule against teams that will be ranked (though I suppose USC MIGHT end up as a ranked opponent), and they have no conference championship game. What could they possibly do against Purdue, Syracuse, Stanford, Pittsburgh, etc. to prove that they belong in the playoff? How could you let them in over, let's say, a 9-3 Texas A&M team?

If they do then the Committee is sending a bad message for sure.
Maybe I dreamed it, but I thought the Cmte has said they'll give heavier weight to quality wins this year, and/or tough schedules. Can't recall the exact wording but it indicated a 9-3 SEC team would get in over a 10-2 ND with fewer quality wins.
Will believe it when I see it.

2 loss ND is going to have to have some breaks to get in....their schedule going forward is a complete joke, all due respect Arkansas....
I ain't sure they don't take another loss or 2.

The only realistically possible losses that I see on Notre Dame's remaining schedule are Arkansas and USC--and they'll be favored in both of those. They should be double-digit favorites in every other game.

But the committee are proven dum dums so u never know

Fiutak is usually pretty balanced. I think he’s way off about Notre Dame getting in. They will lose at least one more game, maybe two

I’m pretty sure they play USC (currently ranked). While I agree to some point, ND has played 2 good opponents early in the season. If they go undefeated the rest of the way, they deserve to be in. Killing a teams season in week 3 because they’ve played 2 top 15 teams is stupid. They can sort out their defense mid season and be a really good team at 10-2.

USC is currently #25 in the AP poll and unranked in the coaches' poll, so they are marginal. Navy and NC State are the only other teams on their schedule even receiving votes, and they don't play a conference championship game. So yes, they could quite possibly "sort out their defense" as the season goes on, but how will we really know?

The point is that they don't have the remaining strength of schedule to build their resume back.

They don’t play anyone worth a damn rest of the year.

So 2 close losses (1 of which was only because the ref missed the guard tackling the DT) means they should just fold up shop for the rest of the year?
