There were some great swc basketball tournaments in texas back in the day. No one in the conference cared about them until Arkansas got good and took it over. Then other teams started taking it seriously and they cut our ticket allotment way back after we carried the tournament for years.

It was was a great day when we got out of that trash conference.

I don't get the appeal of having big regular season games 1000 miles from the campus.

Because basketball is less driven by butts in seats and more by national brand. BWA being 100% full looks awesome, but every TV in every bar in the nation being glued to us looks way better for recruits and money.

recruits and money.

Can we host recruits at the neutral sites?

How much more money do we get for playing these in Dallas or New York instead of BWA?

And big time players want to play in big time venues with a big time atmosphere. Plus major tv exposure, tell me any major recruit who wouldn’t want that.

One thing is for sure, cal knows what he’s doing when it comes to attracting top players.

These games replace "pre season" tourneys like the Maui or battle for Atlantis, etc.

Those games wouldn't be played on campus either and have massive bodies of water called oceans that have to crossed to attend them.

I prefer this scheduling compared to a preseason tourney and then pre conference cupcakes or one big early season opponent.

All of these games will be national broadcasts and will be some of the biggest games of the non conference schedules.

Arkansas will be on TV a lot and will get major attention. As Dale already pointed out, we win half of these games and have a decent conference record then we will have a strong seed in the tourney.

There are so many hog grads in the Dallas area. Will probably sell out.

So we don't get the money, can't host recruits and we "might" sell out a stadium instead of packing out BWA for a great match up.

I haven't heard a single valid reason for this. Big time players like big time checks and that's what John Tyson is giving them. A trip to Maui for a multiday tourney isn't comparable to a one game New York trip.

NWA folks can't wait to get their games back from Little Rock so they can ship them to Dallas. Sure worked for football. Look at all those wins against A&M and how much it boosted the NIL!

I don’t care about basketball when there is 30+ games. I care when you only get 8 home games in football and they have 1-2 on the road.

Same, not even close either. That was one of the most exciting things about getting Cal knowing how he schedules with several big OOC games.

This, there are two points to recruiting and development involved in this.

1. $$$$$ TYson is helping big time, but more is needed. We began it, but look what KY is doing now. Crazy
2. Notoriety! We are plastered everywhere. MSG Check, Dallas Check, more importantly. CBS, ESPN, ABC, Check!

those two are the thing man, and then add Cal... trifecta for a championship

Plus you have to think Cal feels really good about this team's chances to promote us this hard.

The biggest one of all to me is Thanksgiving night in Chicago against Duke.
