Looks about right for schools like LSU, Alabama and UGA that I've read and heard about, but aTm and Missouri? Damn.

School, Estimated 2024-25 NIL Collective Funding (in millions)
Texas A&M, $51.4
Texas, $35-40
Missouri, $31
LSU, $20.1
Georgia, $18.3
Alabama, $16.0
Florida, $15.8
Tennessee, $15.0
Oklahoma, $14.8
Auburn, $11.6
Arkansas, $11.5
Kentucky, $11.3
Ole Miss, $10-13
South Carolina, $9.6
Mississippi State, $6.5
Vanderbilt, Not available (private institution)

Yeah that surprised me too. But here is the source:

One SEC program reportedly spent over $31 million in NIL money in 2024

My query into Grok was how much money was spent by each SEC team to put together a roster for this season.

That’s last season. Those numbers for everyone have gone up. Chris Low wrote yesterday we have roughly 15m invested in this years team and id bet that’s still bottom 3/4 in the league

Thats is good information. So with a 85 man scholarship roster:

A&M is averaging paying each player 600K to State averaging approximately paying each player 82K. Which I know teams don't pay every player, just looking at averages here

The SEC as a conference is averaging approximately 224K per player..... if all of them received part of the NIL money. Which I know they don't.

Thats not a bad paycheck to play football and get your education paid for

Just as a comparison, the league minimum in the NFL is around 840K. Average cost for a year at Harvard around 90K

Thanks for the info

Kelly said straight up that we've got $18m invested in this year's team.

I'll be curious to see how they roll all this into a 'recruiting dollars' metric.

I know LSU's recruiting budget has been middle of the pack...and a lot lower than at least UGA if i remember correctly.

Does that recruiting bill go down if all you have to do is call a bunch of agents?

I don't think the total matters all THAT much. Just like in the NFL, you gotta have a superman at QB to win anything.

Right.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought I heard that LSU is spending $2 million on Nuss this season. That's what helped him come back for one more year.

Ole Miss is the biggest surprise for me on this list.

Credit them for taking advantage of every penny, I guess.

Lol, the only reason Grok thinks this is because this was the figure released of how much money had been raised in x number of days several years ago. Ole Miss doesn't publicly disclose their NIL fund. But, considering the amount that we spend on guys, our fund is significantly higher than $10 million.

Is this supposed to show money raised or money spent?

BK said LSU spent about $18m on the roster this year.

Op there is NIL and in addition money straight from the schools. The A&M AD was specifically hired to set up a good system for payments directly from the school/AD.

Just discussing NIL is only half the equation.
