Must be nice going to sleep tonight knowing you have to be paid $69 million to clean your desk out.

It's just obscene to guarantee ANY coach that kind of money and coaching contract BS was the origin of the issues with the game now.

ADs and university presidents let the Jimmy Sextons of the world make this BS "the norm"...wasn't their money so they didn't care.

As for DeBoer...I thought it was a good hire at the time...but good lord, the guy shows no fire, no sideline intensity, no personality...and the team has adopted that demeanor. Norvell today huddling his team before going in at the half was quite the contrast with DeBoer moping off looking like a wet, beat dog.

But because of stupid and ridiculous buyout clauses, we're stuck. Maybe next time just go find the best high school coach with the right demeanor, pay him a million bucks a year with the only guarantee 1 year's salary. Couldn't get much worse results and at least you could keep trying until you got the right guy without your misses costing you the GDP of a small country. And in an era of paying players, it's time to focus money that way instead of on coaches.

We were going to have to offer any proven coach a huge buyout to come replace Saban. No coach worth a damn was going to take the risk of replacing the goat without an insurance policy they wouldn't be out of a job the minute the didn't perform to the insane expectations at a school like Bama.

On paper it was a good investment but that’s when you count on your AD to figure out if it’s a good fit. DeBoer had never coached in the SEC and he didn’t show sustained 3+ years) success at a power 5 program. Plenty of reason to question the hire at the time.

Nobody on this forum (nor any other one) knows the details of his contract. Broad and/or vague generalizations, sure.

We need a young, hungry coach. Go find the next great coordinator and offer him a HC spot for cheap. Frick it. NIL has neutered these old coaches anyways.

I have watched the last two years thinking “I wish kiffin hadn’t fricked that boosters wife.”

Start the GoFundMe. 365,000 fans could throw $200 at it and cover it.

The question is if it's worth waiting until after next season to pay $59 million? We know now that CKD is not the right coach for this program. Is it really worth another $10 million to wait around for another year? It's not my money but what must be done eventually should be done immediately. Kalen DeBoer is going to get fired sooner than later. It's probably better to just do it sooner rather than later.

People talk about expectations, but honestly I think most people realized the Saban era was a once in a lifetime dynasty.

I simply believed Alabama should be competitive...be in a 12 team playoff more often than not...reasonable with our commitment and pedigree.

My point is...we don't need to sell the house for a "proven" coach...that obviously means nothing. We've now locked ourselves in. I'd rather take a chance with a hungry, unknown coach fighting for his supper instead of giving a "proven" guy guaranteed generational wealth even if he sucks a ss.

To be unable to put that shite aside and curate the downfall of the greatest run ever is such kid shite. Like bro, you still with her?

Either he did you a favor or you've put that shite behind you.

Dude must be pumping a lot of money into us. Should have just pumped his wife instead.

Let’s be honest, DeBoer isn’t even scratching the surface of meeting basic expectations for most SEC programs, let alone Alabama.

Expecting to actually win the national championship every year and wanting to fire the coach if it doesn’t happen is silly in the current environment, although it absolutely should be our goal.

Expecting to BE COMPETITIVE each week is not silly and talking about firing the coach if that expectation is not being met is completely justified.

Exactly. Stop the bleeding before he harms the program even further. I mean, we basically had to beg Ryan Grubb to come here when he got fired by the Seahawks. He doesn’t really want to be here.

If we're not going to fire DeBoer then we need to throw down the gauntlet to sign big time transfer talent and try to retool the defensive staff. It'd probably be cheaper to spend 10-20m more to get us into too-talented-to-fail territory like what Ohio State did with Rosy-Cheeked Manlet Ryan Day than finding 70m.

I wasn't defending DeBoer's performance. I was saying any elite coach we hired was going to demand a similar buyout before agreeing to replacing a coach like Saban.

If I hit the Powerball Jackpot I will pay the buyout if I get to pick the next coach.

Forget for a minute that we had Nick Saban. In the NIL world where you might have to rebuild a team every year, possibly with limited resources but still bearing the burden of fan expectations. Who would take a job without a guarantee? Nobody that wants to remain a coach for any length of time. This is the new world. Everyone pays to play.

I'd feel better better if DeBoer just acted like he gave a sh!t during the game...after the game...SOMETIME.

But again...$69 million means you don't have to give a sh!t.
