by this whole title claiming nonsense. I have family members tthat live in Piedmont, Al that are huge Auburn fans and they believe its turned them into the "laughing stock of the college football world"...that's a direct quote. And to hear them tell it, they haven't talked to a single friend/fan of theirs that is not embarrassed by it all.

Feel free to chime in Auburn posters and tell us the truth about how you really feel about it, if you're not too prideful to admit it, that is.

My Auburn neighbor said it makes their fanbase look absolutely ridiculous.

I bet some of the most vocal posters today have made disparaging comments for years against this very concept.

I wonder how long it will take for receipts to start surfacing?

It does but they are banking on the fact that in 5-10 years no one will remember and the way can put that all over their media guides, facilities etc and “appear” like a much greater football power than they are

I've been driving through Mississippi and Louisiana today...sports radio everywhere is laughing at them.

I will say that NCs have to be looked at reflecting the methodology in place THEN. I don't think it should have been this way, but there was a time the NC was named PRIOR to Bowl games...like it or not, that's just reality.

People that claim Alabama just randomly counts multiple, illegitimate titles are just wrong and have Alabama Derangement Syndrome. 1941 is the sole BS claim...wish they'd torpedo that one and blow up that narrative. The rest are rock solid and everyone knows it.

I mean, if we are truly being honest, history has shown this to be the case.

As to the OP, if his so called "family members" are embarrased, that speaks more to them than anything else.

I've said we should claim '83 for decades now .

2004, until USC was shown to cheat and forced to vacate that season, I was on the fence and fine not claiming it. Once they were shown to be ineligible, I don't have an issue making a claim.

The ones from the early 1900's, I don't care either way on as most claims in that time period are fairly subjective and at best most years have shared titles as there was not much consensus in any year. There will never be a scenario where the teams that are claiming these will unclaim them, so I think claiming the ones that we have a valid claim to is fine.

'58 I think is a silly one personally. I do think we may have been the best team that year, but shouldn't have tied GT. Sometimes the best team isn't the title winner.

Decent cool Auburn fans (majority of total) are loving it. The only ones that are feeling humiliated are the little weak a$$ Auburn fans that are afraid their bama buddy at the office is going to make fun of them. Pu$$ies!

What do you think it says about them? Hey, they're just regular ol diehard Auburn fans just like you.

And uh, for the record, if the UGA administration would have done this, I would be crawling under a rock somewhere until it blew over. I sure wouldn't be on THIS forum discussing it. But that's just me.

Wouldn’t expect anything different from a program that hires garbage like Bruce Pearl and Hugh Freeze

I wouldn’t have done it. But I don’t care. I was alive the 2004 season, and they do deserve some credit. Also alive for the ‘93 team but I was pretty young.

I think the whole thing is funny. Especially all the threads about it here.

They lack historical context, knowledge of college football, and are generally emotionally fragile if something like this embarrases them.

Doubtful.

Sounds like family issues then.

I think most Auburn fans are more humiliated at the sad state of their football program the last 5 years than they are about AD John Cohen's recent move to claim titles.

Yet your program is claiming 2 years when they were on probation and couldn’t even play a bowl game. That’s some weird logic
