Interesting hire.

Wonder if the conference is gonna get a heavy dose of the Jumbo Package this year?

I’d really appreciate it, if he could find another Chris Capps to play at guard and then exclusively run HB dives behind that guy.

I wonder how much he's grown as a playcaller. I was never impressed with his playcalling with any team he was with, including Alabama. It will be interesting to see how he uses Norris at QB.

He was the OC for the Panthers when they went 15-1 and made it to the Super Bowl with Cam Newton.

I wish Mike well other than when South Carolina plays Bama. My son-in-law is on the NCAA compliance staff at USCe and says Mike is very well liked by the players and staff there.

I feel certain I’ll be down voted for this post by my stalker. Not sure who it is and don’t really care but I could post “The Sky is blue” and I’d get downvoted by this guy. LOL

Cam Newton made a lot of offensive coordinators look great.

Darby up the middle, gain of three.
Darby up the middle for no gain.
Brody Croyle drops back to pass, sacked, tears his ACL.
Punt.

I’ve written here before that I think Shula was the best placeholder between Stallings and Saban. No scandals. Won 10 games in 2005 and welcomed Urban Meyer to the SEC with a 31-3 beatdown. Would have probably won 10 games in 2004 if Brody Croyle doesn’t blow out his knee. Bama finished the year with a 3rd string QB, a 4th string RB and multiple freshmen starting.

He clearly wasn’t mean to be a great HC, but he’s an Iron Bowl legend and I’ll always hold him in high regard.

I've often wondered how our 2005 season would've played out if Prothro hadn't gotten hurt in that Florida game.

Do we beat LSU? We took them to overtime without him.

We gained 188 total yards against Auburn.

Makes you think.

Happy thoughts concerning Shula is 85 season, labor day night vs UGA and 85 Iron Bowl.
He may not have been clutch as HC for us, however he was a very good good college QB, coming up big in clutch situations.
Hope he does well as SC OC other than vs our guys.

He gets shite on a lot but for a guy with no head coaching experience and no experience coaching at the college level to come in during the program's lowest point in history, navigate through an NCAA landmine and leave with a winning record was impressive.

The strain of the scholarship limitations hurt him as well. That 2004 and 2005 team was legit but ofcourse, by the time Auburn rolled around in '04, half the team was out injured and we were down to a walk on QB starting. Yet we still played the best Auburn team in modern history down to the wire with an offense full of third stringers. '05 wasn't as bad but key injuries to the offense again caused it to stall as well. I think he would have fared significantly better with a deck that wasn't only a quarter stacked. His teams were usually in every game until the 4th quarter and that's usually a sign of depth which we severely lacked.

My opinion of SC does not refer to Shula, per se, but I think that they are vastly overrated. I see 5-6 losses. SC is like the Barn, they win/lose when not expected to.

I went back to check my facts. Dave Rader is indeed a OK State Senator.

Interesting life....

Ultimately it worked out but Shula's biggest mistake was (other than replacing Price's sons) he only made one staff change in four years. Bob Connelly specifically should have been fired.
