Solely about football. Are SMU and Texas Tech more desirable coaching jobs than Arkansas?

This is only about football. Both SMU and Texas Tech appear to be more financially committed to winning than Arkansas.

Why do people here shite on Arkansas all the time?
What did they ever do to anybody?
People here treat Arkansas like a member of Nickelback.*
*I stole this joke but it fits here

I don't like to see SEC members shirk their responsibilities. Arkansas is resting on their laurels and the fact they depend on Texas recruits just doesn't look good for their future. In their recruiting grounds they are already behind Texas, A&M, and Oklahoma. Now they are behind SMU and Texas Tech too.

Now do Auburn.

No doubt. Arkansas is tough place to coach because their fans think they are Nebraska…a former blue blood that has just fallen on hard times. And they are not. They are Texas Tech…or South Carolina…or Oklahoma Stare…or Illinois. They had a short stint for a decade where they had great
Records playing very weak competition.

Auburn SPENDS the money. But, they hire bad head coaches. Auburn is far from cheap.

Of course.
What kind of stupid question is this?

Arkansas is by far the best job of these three. SMU is a tiny private school whose program was dead for the better part of 30 years. Texas Tech is the third wheel in its state and its located closer to Albuquerque than Dallas and Houston. Arkansas is the only P4 team in the state, borders some talent loaded states, has a loyal and large fanbase and plays in a state of the art facility in a beautiful part of the country. This shouldn't even be a question.

Arkansas has more fan support than Texas Tech or SMU. Their facilities are better. People in Arkansas love their Hogs.
Their first problem is the state only produces around 5 SEC level players annually. Their second problem is that their big money boosters have given up on football. And of course their schedule is always very tough.
You can win more at Texas Tech or SMU. They have NIL money and much easier schedules. So yes, I'd rather have those jobs as a coach. But as a fan, much prefer Arkansas.

This isn't 2005. It's 2025 and that stuff doesn't matter. SMU and Texas Tech are more relevant programs today than Arkansas. SMU is a tiny private school in one of the richest neighborhoods in the US, has a filthy rich alum base, and they were a playoff team last season. Texas Tech is spending money like crazy and their football facilities can compete with anyone.
This NIL and portal world will make some programs obsolete who aren't willing to change. It looks like Arkansas doesn't want to change.

You’d think the money would be there between Jerry Jones, Walmart, and Tyson chicken.

It looks like SMU and Texas Tech facilities are more than good enough for today's standards.

Arkansas defeated Texas Tech 39-26 to win their fourth straight Liberty Bowl.
The Hogs have never lost a bowl game in the Sam Pittman era (3-0). Pittman is the first Arkansas head coach in program history to win each of his first three bowl games.

More wealthy druggies at SMU.

I would also add the recruiting base in texas is 100x better.

Wasn’t this the same conversation this board had about TCU a few years ago?

The thing with SMU is it's fans are only Alumni. The majority of Dallas is split OU or texas nobody cares about SMU even in Dallas.

For the money they have yes
Arky has to play in the the SEC so it is brutal for them.
So a tough answer honestly

Try one or two that can play substantially. Another couple that can provide depth.
