I promise I'm not looking for any free labor here, but your regular season win total is 7.5.
What would be the argument for going at least 8-4 this regular season and what would be the argument against not going at least 8-4, and which argument do you personally think is stronger?
In theory, you'd have to go 5-4 against the following games in order to hit the number – VS Michigan, VS Auburn, Texas, AT South Carolina, VS Ole Miss, AT Tennessee, AT Alabama, VS Missouri and VS LSU.

The key is being 5-0 going into Red River. That's beating Michigan and Auburn which OU will be favored in both. As I look at the schedule only South Carolina and LSU got better this year and maybe Bama but they may be a wash. Texas. Tenn, and Auburn starting new QBs. OU is too but Mateer had 44 touchdowns last year and is a major upgrade from what OU had. Add in health WR's and Oline no reason OU can't win 9 games this year.

For: We have the talent to beat every team on our schedule.
Against: We've had two seasons out of three where the team was fatally flawed in some way.
My argument currently rests with the former, but we won't beat every single team on our schedule. That would require a historical run.

I could see OU taking 6 of the 8 SEC games.
And beating Michigan.
And beating Michigan.

Mateer has the 10th best odds to win the Heisman right now. Tennessee's quarterback and Auburn's quarterback definitely don't have the 10th best odds to win the Heisman right now lol.

Mateer is starting his 2nd season in an offense he already knows inside and out playing for the same OC he had last year as a starter. The others are not. That's the difference.

He reminds me a lot of a bigger and faster Stetson Bennett, which is dangerous. And since there's at least one Auburn fan in this thread, we might as well show this not so great moment in Auburn history lol...

OU will roll Michigan, beat Auburn, lose to Texas, lose at South Carolina, lose at Tenn, Lose at Bama, Beat Missou and Beat LSU. The wildcard is at Ole Miss.

I am looking 9-3. Reasons are:
1 QB , Greg McElroy ranks Mateer #1 QB in SEC and #2 in nation
LINK
2 we have an OC this year versus none last year
3 we have starting WRs this year versus top 6 WR injured and out last year
4 we have an outstanding transfer RB this year
5 DL is rated best in SEC by Phil Steele
6 LB rated best in SEC by Phil Steele

Nah OU doesn’t have the talent
That’s their problem

Yes they do.
Stop pretending like you know what you're prattling about.

Not gonna disagree but a very specific order of outcomes haha.
If anything I’d say OU would beat South Carolina and lose to LSU.
Guess we will see.

Well we never had your talent and it didn’t stop us from beating your arse for most of the last quarter century.

Basing your optimism off of what mcelroy and Phil Steele think is pretty damn funny.

If they’re going to run the same offense that WSU ran last year, better hope that backup QB is ready. Mateer doesn’t have the frame to carry the ball 100+ times in the SEC, much less 170+.

Maetter did nothing of note against the 5 teams with a pulse last year (Texas tech, Oregon St, Washington, Boise and Washington).
Each of those teams would be projected to be the easiest SEC game on Oklahoma’s upcoming schedule.
Y’all are putting a lot of stock on him not being overwhelmed by superior defensive talent.

You wouldn't understand why OU fans have such confidence with QB transfers "Baker Mayfield,,. Kyler Murray, Jalen Hurts and Dillon Gabriel" two of those four won Heisman's and all four are playing in the NFL It's hard to grasp that idea when Chase Daniels was fifteen years ago.
