Oct. 18th vs. Oklahoma.

It's sandwiched between a road game @LSU on Oct. 11th and at home vs Alabama on Oct. 25th.

It's an EARLY kickoff. Noon or 1:00 ET.

I think a lot of Gamecock fans look at the scoreboard last year and think this will be an easier game. I went to Norman and the OU defense was extremely tough. If the OU offense hadn't imploded within the first 8 minutes, it was a game that would have gone down to the wire.

The addition of Mateer and Ott should help them significantly on offense.

I can easily see OU winning this game.

Its also Oklahoma for Tennessee. I like their QB and their running back. Pair that with Venebales, who knows how to bottle Tennessee's offense, and uncertainty for vols at QB, and things could get interesting in Neyland Stadium. Under Heupel, only UGA has had success in Neyland, but this OU game scares me

Kentucky. It's Simmon's first SEC road game. That always scares me.

REALLY don’t want to lose either of these games:

September 6 kU
November 29 @ Arkansas

Also not a fan of the @ Auburn and @ Vanderbilt stretch in mid October

Auburn could be dangerous early in the season, before they start eating their own.

LSU: Ole Miss. They dont have close to the caliber team of the last couple years but it’s still Kiffin at home

Honestly, no fan is overlooking any game on the schedule. Every game in SEC is warfare. Not one gimmie game in conf play.

I never said they're overlooking the game. I said, "in terms of difficulty". Meaning everyone knows conference games will be battles, but I expect a much harder battle with OU than some of our other fans do.

Your shtick is old and stupid. It's a legit thread, and OP gave solid rationale for overlooking Oklahoma.

There's not a road game I think will be overlooked:

Ole Miss
LSU
Mizzou
aTm

All will be tough. Of the four, I have the most confidence in beating LSU.

The game I think will dictate everything is VaTech. If SC reads their own headlines beforehand, they'll get crushed. If they're dialed in, it'll set the stage for a potentially great season.

With us breaking in a new QB and just the second year for a new coach, it's hard to think of any game that isn't presumed to be a test...

That said, Florida State may well have fully rebuilt and be a tough out. Looking at last year's schedule there's no reason to think FSU should be a tough game, but I haven't followed them closely enough to see if they'll end up being a challenge or not.

I agree with you and original thread poster. I think ou/fsu are much improved. The castellano kid has a mouth on him, he’s a decent qb but being the perfect fit for a malzahn offense is what’s scary. With ou they were without almost all their reciever room midway through the schedule(really terrible injury luck). Both teams will be improved. Just not sure by how much.

LSU

12 out of the last 14 in the W column makes this an easy game to take for granted. But, the Bayou Bengals play better in T-Town than at Bryant Denny West, so it could prove more challenging.

Don't think we have the top end players, like a Nolan etc. But the total team is more talented in general. shouldn't have the gaps.

Simmons, might be the most talented qb Kiff has had at OM, just will have to wait and see how fast it all clicks for him.

BK is going to be coaching for his job though, can't have another 1st round qb and fall flat on his face, again.

if Carolina wins at Missouri 9/20 - Carolina v Kentucky home game 9/27 screams let down - especially if it also kicks early - Gamecocks have won 3 straight after UK won 7 of 8 prior - the series has been one of streaks since 2000 - including USC's 10 straight and 13 of 14 - our collective fan base probably wants to think we're back to beating UK yearly with this mini run of 3 -

the 9/27 composite schedule has

Alabama at Georgia
Notre Dame at Arkansas
Auburn at Texas A&M
LSU at Ole Miss
State at Tennessee
Missouri Vanderbilt both OOC so SECN or SECN+
Florida Oklahoma Texas on byes

have a suspicion UK at USC will be a noon kick -

Maybe Vandy? 11am home game day after Halloween. We could expect an easy win, but we only beat Pavia by 3 last season.
