Rizzoli & Isles would routinely get 4 million viewers back in the day on TNT. People were fascinated by Detective Jane Rizzoli's dogged relentlessness and sleuthing skills.

I think that one day people will be be fascinated with the College World Series too! Just because the College World Series averages 1.5 million viewers nowadays, it doesn't mean that it will always be that way.

I think if the College World Series continues to work hard and keeps a positive attitude, maybe one day it will be as popular as Rizolli & Isles.

The deck was stacked against them this past Sunday. The CWS had to compete against the Traveler’s, the LPGA championship, FIFA soccer, NHRA hod rod finals, the WNBA and a very good episode of Blue Bloods. It really wasn’t fair to them.

What is it with ragging on college baseball and the CWS? I understand baseball is a game for purists and thinking folk. If you're not sharp enough to understand and decipher the nuances of the game, there's always the UFL for your spring sports enjoyment.

Doesn't take brute strength and requires an IQ higher than 80. Also, very seldom hear of college baseball players driving 130 in a 40, wrapping their wheels around a tree and killing folk. Even UGA baseball players don't act like idiots when it comes to the internal combustion engine.

The best part of these ratings threads is knowing everyone in them was watching Daddy LSU win yet another CWS title

How many people watched Alabama and Georgia win absolutely nothing nationally in a major sport this season?

TIA

Alabama football players paint their fingernails while UGA baseball players show as much cleavage as legally possible

Notice how college baseball is the only sport that posters here constantly try to trash.

Why is that?

Sunday’s Game 2 averaged 2.78 million viewers across ABC and ESPNU, down five percent from Tennessee-Texas A&M Game 2 last year (2.92M) but still the sixth-largest audience for an MCWS game on the ESPN networks.

CWS Finals Viewership

So a little over 2.5 million people watched the college world series final game. By comparison…

Alabama's blowout of LSU on Saturday night drew 7.9 million viewers

Alabama - LSU Draws 7.9 Million

A regular season LSU game had almost three times more viewers than the college world series final game.

Imagine if Alabama has been in the CWS v. a Sunbelt school. More people would have been watching the reruns of Perry Mason on the Justice Channel. ABC would have replaced the broadcast with a news report on an endangered snail species.

I refuse to believe that you believe this. Way more people watched the MIssouri-Texas A&M football game last year than the CWS championship series, and I sure as frick don't remember watching the Missouri-Texas A&M football game.

To each their own, and if everybody liked the same stuff the world would be a much less interesting place, but seriously what channel was it on?

Also a buzzworthy episode of Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing, where the female naked ladies honestly discuss their physical limitations and insecurities.

it's a reaction to LSU celebrating like they just won the World Cup.

I'm coming around on college baseball, admittedly. I enjoy it. But it's mostly a regional sport, LSU is the team that takes it more seriously than any of us and 80% of big schools treat it as a complete afterthought. This board is the only place on the entire internet where the outcome of the CWS is a big deal, and while I think most know that, outsiders venturing over here over the next month would probably be confused as to why LSU fans are continuing to talk shite days and weeks after winning something the average sports fan isn't aware occurred.

Now, that's just explaining where it's coming from. All that aside, LSU fans do their own thing, baseball is part of that thing, and far be it from me to tell them not to be excited about it. But you can't blame other people for eventually finding it obnoxious

Do people think the MLB does insane viewership or something?

MLB postseason viewers in the U.S. 2020-2024. An average of 5.7 million viewers in the United States tuned in to watch the MLB postseason games in the 2024 season. This marked an increase of more than 1.5 million average viewers on the figure from a year before.
