Maybe im getting older but I use to be so excited for preseason phil steels books, fall camp, ect . Would count down the days. I just have no faith in Auburn football anymore. I'm more worried about how the d2 and juco guys will perform and if there real deal d1/sec players for the basketball team than I am fall camp & sec media days. Anyone else at this point with football.

I think we contend for the playoffs this year. Arnold has so many weapons to throw to and he is a hell of a runner. If our OL lives up to their billing, we should be able to produce on offense verses every team we face. Defense is stacked with talent. No excuses this year

Game got to be too much about money. I still enjoy watching, but it will never be what it was.

I don’t build my plans around Auburn football in the fall.

I hope we win every game.

I watch the games IF I am at home. I’ll check the score from the golf course, but I don’t scratch a tee time to stay home and watch a 12 eastern start.

I used to know the names of our players, but with the portal and lack of success I probably can’t name 15 players.

Some of it is getting older, but I think the younger generation may be losing interest as well. Going to a game is work. Everything is monetized.

It will be interesting to see IF season ticket sales are “sticky.” Time is something you can’t buy more of so making the time for a game is a calculation that everyone has determine whether it is worth sinking 4 hours into watching on TV, a weekend into going to a game, or just passively watching when it’s convenient for you.

The days of everyone building every Saturday around CFB are numbered.

We haven’t had even a decent season since most of these big changes started happening so I won’t fully know how accurate your post is until we do. But I do suspect you are into something.

College football’s pageantry/tradition/rivalries has always been much of its charm, and the changes have had direct sweeping impact upon that charm.

NIL and portal have killed much of the allegiances/hometown team aspect of the game. Not arguing those changes didn’t have merit, but there is no debating it has impacted the product regardless of where you stand.

You are right.

I only speak for myself.

In the old days, Auburn football stadium crowd was lots of families. Demographics are changing.
I had season tickets for awhile, but it was just my son and I.

With marriage rates declining, with both parents working, with the proliferation and professionalization of kids activities, time is more precious than it used to be.

The in stadium experience needs to be more than a hot aluminum bench and piped in music.

I'm looking forward to this football season. Maybe not as excited as I was when a student or the next 30 years or so. I do thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere of the gathering crowd and the friends/family around me.

The NIL, paying players, portal, etc., have injured the game; diminishing it's pageantry and experiences.

Do I think we go 16-0? Never know until the horns sound and we look at the scoreboard.

I'm not even sure if Auburn has a great season this year, I'll ever be as big of a fan as I once was. The fact that we have sucked about the same time CFB has lost its soul, just has me pretty apathetic to the entire thing.

Auburn football used to dictate my fall, it still will a little. (season tickets and tailgating) But I'm just a little checked out currently.

I'm well aware that the first "war eagle, hey!" on the first kick off this season will probably have me right back in it, but right now, I'm just meh...

I dont think I can relate to people here that can just casually check on the team during the season.

Thoroughout the summer anticipation will build and build.

During the season we will be happy or cry but no matter what watching football is better than not watching football. In the bad seasons I just watch and try to latch onto favorite players, story lines, or whatever.

This. I'm indifferent to collegiate sports now. NIL and BLM have totally ruined it for me.

Never been this meh about a season. Unchartered territory for me.

I've never, not watched and don't anticipate not watching a game. I think I've only left JHS early a handful of times in a losing game, usually, I'm sticking it out to the alma mater.

There are major consequences from this season. Do or die.

Freeze has to sell his recruiting pitch on the field. That is great for us. Recruits wont let the admin hold a lame duck another year.

On a bullish stance I believe our receivers crew is better than every previous crew since Obamanu and Aromashodu. Our OL should be solid. Just across the board we havent been this talented since 2019. We are beating Georgia this year. The Jordan Hare Magic is coming back! The bulls and negas should both have plenty of interest. As far as the deteriorating state of college athletics yeah that sucks. I dont look at those kids as kids anymore though. They are leveraging their likeness for payday then I am criticizing those kids like a coach.

Old man rant engage: The stadium sound experience is a reason I go to less games. The incessant artificial sound is too loud, fills in every empty moment, plays over the band! It's just too much. I miss the days when the stadium would gradually build to a roar without being told to 'get loud', the booming voice of the stadium announcer giving down and distance, just a chance to enjoy the scenery and ambiance of the stadium while hearing the sounds of the game.

I went to a high school playoff game in Tuscaloosa in the early 2000s? and they were playing sound and music between every play, and it was a terrible experience. They were evidently just further down this road than Auburn at that time.

What are you smoking? I have been going to games since the late 80s, and we have always pumped music in. The gameday experience is better than ever. Although the scholarship level needs better food.

Nah, the pumped in music in next level over the past few season. Sometimes they play right up to the kick off and drown out the "War Eagle, Hey!" They play over the band too.

And the song choices are just next level suck now for anyone born before 2000.

I agree with Burrito's old man rant.

Pumped in music isn’t all bad but the constant DJ’ing is too much
