Guess chicken man didn’t have enough dough in the kitty to keep a star player. Damn.

Part of me figured he'd be back in college. Very quick, but has a ton of issues when his jumper isn't falling because he doesn't finish well in the paint at all.

From Bleacher Report:

quote:

In however much time he has left, he will want to try to answer questions about size, athleticism and finishing. He shot just 36.0 percent on layups with zero dunk attempts, potentially alarming numbers.

Doesn't want to lose minutes to Acuff. If ends up at Florida, will probably be and AA and top 10-15 pick. Just needs a few little things to click. If Florida is really offering the rumored $7 million NIL, he'd be crazy not to take it and an extra year to develop physically and improve his game under Golden.

What? The guy declared for the draft thus everyone must proceed as if he's gone. Calipari went out and recruited for his spot, landed top players from both HS and the portal, and Fland doesn't have a spot on the roster.

That's what happens when you have an overrated self valuation.

Fland was out for the remainder of the regular season after undergoing surgery on his thumb. During his absence, fellow freshman D.J. Wagner stepped up as the primary ball-handler. Additionally, players like Karter Knox and Billy Richmond III flourished with increased minutes.

Made the same Sweet 16 UK did without much contribution from Fland.

There's zero chance they're offering that

Rumors suggested that Boogie Fland, a talented college basketball player from Arkansas, could receive up to $7 million in NIL deals to play for the Florida Gators if he withdrew from the NBA Draft. However, college basketball insiders have called this figure inaccurate, suggesting it's an inflated valuation used as a recruiting tactic. While Fland is a highly sought-after player with strong NBA draft potential, experts believe his NIL value would likely be closer to $3-4 million.

No, but it would be terribly ironic if they did offer a big bag when they threw a fit over Aberdeen signing with Kentucky and a bunch of talking heads roasted him for it because he was "chasing a bag".

Lulz, Cal will give all the minutes Wagner over Acuff. He will die on the hill for Wagner.

Yeah, yeah. We know. We heard the same thing last year. And then Cal let Boogie run the team from Day 1, and he was playing nearly identical minutes to Wagner while healthy.

Acuff will get all the minutes he can handle.

I don't know if that would truly be an apples to apples situation to be truly ironic.

Aberdeen left a team that just won the national title and had a chance to repeat for a program that got eliminated in the sweet 16 but may have a pretty promising future under Pope.

Boogie left a program in a similar situation that UK is in, including getting eliminated in the Sweet 16 last year, and is going to the reigning national champions who just produced a trio of guards who had spectacular seasons under Golden, with Clayton having a historical one.

That's why the talking heads are giving Zel some crap for his decision.

To your point, I agree that everyone is droppings bags and it's just business. Fans will be butthurt but really shouldn't be if we just accept that this is the current landscape, even though that landscape sucks.

Nobody threw a fit. We were aggravated that you would overpay the guy by so much. It's like people are trying to conduct business and some rich guy comes in and screws up the market. It's the same thing Kentucky did with the coaching market overpaying Cal. Now we will possibly end up having to overpay or go with a guy less talented than we would prefer. Could we have matched or beaten your offer for Aberdeen, of course, but it would be bad business, and take money from other places it is needed.

It's all the minor leagues now and I hate it.

And I would rather have Aberdeen than Fland because Aberdeen is a Florida kid and has been at UF for 3 years, but now he will forever be a Kentucky Wildcat after being on UK's campus for less than a year.

Boogie knew the deal. He was supposed to be one and done, Cal recruited Acuff behind him and knew neither would sit for the other one. So once the draft deal started to fall through it was clear he would probably end up somewhere else. I ain't mad at him for it. Honestly I'll be more disappointed if Knox doesn't return than Boogie.
