Curious what route you guys go. Maybe Bachich (sp) from Clemson or the guy at DBU?

Butch Thompson seems like the obvious choice

With the "Dude" and the money they spend on baseball, MSU is a top 5-10 job in the country.

Both Mingione and Butch Thompson were assistants there and they both lead good programs today.

I think MSU will make a splash hire.

He’s not leaving DBU. He’s pretty religious and is pretty immersed in that side of things there. He’s had plenty of chances to go elsewhere and hasn’t wanted to

Butch has taken his sweet time to turn Auburn into something. If given the choice between the two, I’d go Mingione.

I’d still make Bachich (sp?) at Clemson tell me no.

I think Vitello and tennessee are married til death.

The one we have to make us tell us no is Brian O’Conner. He will probably use the offer to get a raise and more money for UVA baseball but have to start there

His contract extension from last summer is a head scratcher.

$1.4M a year through 2031 with only a $500,000 buyout.

Definitely makes it seem like he would leave UVA for the right gig.

I will be shocked if it’s Mingione. There are better coaches out there.

Brian O’Conner will likely be our first choice and if he says no we’ll end up with one of the following

Tom Walter - wake forest
Chris Pollard - Duke
Dan Fitzgerald - Kansas
Butch Thompson - Auburn

If we strike out with those 4 maybe we hire Elander or Coggin or some off the wall head coach like ASU’s manager or something

O’Conner is really interesting because he’s a grand slam hire. Before NIL he was very content there but UVA has a ton of sports they support and while baseball is decently popular there it’s nothing like we have. We will support baseball more than just about any school in the country and baseball coaches are a little easier to poach these days due to that.

Mingione is a really good coach. He basically has nothing to work with at Kentucky.

O’Conner is maineri 2.0
With the talent he’s had they should be better

Virginia is not exactly oozing with baseball history. And he’s gotten them to Omaha 7 times in the last 15 years. That’s pretty dang good ROI all things considered. He’s also got the ACC’s only baseball national title in the last 70 years.

I don’t know if State ends up hiring O’Connor but I get the sense he is the first preference.

If he turns it down, I think it ends up being Walter or Pollard. Both of whom I’d be very fine with.

Chris Pollard's name has been coming up more in recent days. I think it will be one of the ACC coaches - UVA, Wake, Duke.

Stay the hell away from Mingione. He's our guy now.

I respect what Mingione has done but I’m just not a fan of his personality or style of play.

I wouldn’t be thrilled with it but it wouldn’t be a bad hire by any means.

What i am saying is that they will hired BK to coach baseball. That is what I am saying. He will have high talents at Mississippi State.
