Freedom of choice. They don’t owe the government their presence and, in turn, if people want to disagree and take umbrage with their absence they are free to do so. Doesn’t affect me one way or the other and come Fall it’s not going to impede my pulling for them to succeed on the field.

It's unfortunate that championship teams visiting the White House has turned political.

The Outrage Loop is now a billion dollar cottage industry in America. Cable news channels prey on old people and bored weirdos with it. One of my New Years resolutions was to get out of the loop. There are way better ways to get a quick dopamine hit and feel more alive than actively searching for something to be outraged about in the news cycle.

If they don’t want to go, fine. Bunch of bitches if you ask me. I agree, turning a Presidential visit of congratulation for winning championships should be an honor regardless of the Presidents political affiliation or personality

Rather them not go if they are going to be jackasses.
Shame as a trip to the Whitehouse would be pretty cool just to see all the history inside it.

Shut up and dribble
Only an idiot turns down an opportunity to go to the white house to be celebrated.

Guarantee they couldn’t actually explain why.

It has been politicized now to the point that going or not going gets you shite.

Bill Clinton came to Little White House and my Dad had a chance to meet him. He couldn’t stand Clinton but stood there and shook his hand because he was President of the United States.
Of course … dad also wasn’t a bitch worried about his social media presence and likes.

Ringo is one of the good ones.

Your dad I would guess had a Military background as well. You respect the office

Actually he didn’t. Enlisted for Vietnam (before he got drafted), bussed off to ATL, got checked out twice in two days and sent home because of high blood pressure/hypertension. If that hadn’t happened I might not even be here.
He has just always been a straight up, black and white kind of guy….just like granddad. I try to be that way too.

Even the guys that didn't serve knew what was expected because their dads did and uncles etc.... respect the office would have been a cornerstone on that generation before the hippies ruined the country.

Doing a formal team event where half the team doesn't show up just reflects poorly on the team, IMO.
Doesn't matter what the nature of the event is, just seems janky.

It would be one thing if they stood up and said why they weren't going. Instead they hid behind the lie of 'scheduling conflict." Shame on them for being cowards and not speaking up..

This is the correct approach.

Thoughts? Yeah. I have a few, but just suffice it to say talent and money do nothing but allow people to stay insulated and entrenched in their ignorance.

It’s sad they believe what the news says

When I was covering North Georgia for a hardware company I used to stop at The Pink Pig for lunch once or twice a month. In the late '80s Jimmy Carter would come in because it was his favorite BBQ place. He would pull up in a three car convoy with half a dozen Secret Service agents and two or three aides and come in and take over half the tables. Jimmy would shake every hand in the place and the SS agents would cringe.
There were probably 10 people in there eating before he pulled up. I shook his hand every time I saw him there.
