Obliterated that 1992 Miami Offense. To this day one of the best dismantling performances of an elite offense ever.

RIP Brother Bill.

Where did the name Brother Bill originate from?

He was an amazing defensive mind! Great coach.

he was a very innovative coach

it seems petty on the x's and o's category now, but he was possibly the first DC to drop a rush defensive end into flat pass coverage, while the cover 2 corner would fly in on a corner blitz

I also believe he was one of the first to begin giving up zones and gambling on not being old school *sound*. Example: the old sound coverage of 5 underneath and 2 safeties, I believe he was one of the first to say screw it, if they want to get lucky and get the hot route on a underneath zone we give up, then have at it.

ETA: so he'd gamble giving up a zone and send missiles...

I remember when he scared the hell out of Gino Toretta by lining Alabama’s entire elite defense up on the line of scrimmage during the 93 Sugar Bowl. It set the tone for the rest of the game.

I don’t know if he was the greatest defensive coordinator to ever do it, but he was the defensive coordinator for the best defense to ever do it

Lined Curry and Copeland up side by side on one play. Gino was frazzled.

Fuuuck that's a gut punch.
