Officials with the Conway Police Department are investigating a Sunday evening shooting near a park.
According to a post on social media, the shooting happened near 5th Avenue Park.
Police said that two people have died and nine were injured in the shooting and have been taken to area hospitals.
Sad deal. I’ve heard it’s up to 6 dead

You can't tell me Conway PD was unaware of this "gathering" and all the weapons being flashed and openly carried before the shooting took place. It was all over social media and that park isn't exactly huge, their presence was known by police.
Now, I don't envy the cops that would've been sent in to break it up.... But they absolutely could've had a presence that shut this whole thing down before it happened

Conway is an interesting story. I remember in the mid 90's to mid 00's that Conway was the up and coming place.

I’m a prosecutor in Little Rock and so many Defendants have multiple kids, several with 5+. You listen to the calls they make from jail and they’re always talking about the checks they receive from the government and it’s disgusting.
I’ll never forget when I was still doing misdemeanors one lady showing up with 12 children. She had left 4 or 5 of them at a hairdresser and never came to pick them up. Those kids will be showing up in court themselves in a couple of years.

I grew up in little rock. i have lived in conway for the past 7 years. Conway has about 10 different levels it would have to descend to.
I lost a 17 year old cousin in little elm texas 3 years ago in a shooting that was verbitum like this and he did not grow up in the hood at all. this senior day / spring break type deal for HS seniors is a breeding ground for this type of stuff.
