I think it's pretty obvious we pay our athletes very well, but he might not be wrong necessarily.
It's not completely crazy to think we might not have an extra $2m laying around that we can/could responsibly reallocate in a day. We probably do, I just don't know how the accounting of it works exactly.

I'm going to do something odd and agree with this Tenner fan. $2 million is a shite ton of money. That money would have to come from somewhere else. There must also be a return on the investment and a cultural fit. This is the same reason we told Judkins to walk.

It's not just about Nico. If the Vols give into him, they are going to have a stream of players lined up at the coaches office wanting more money. Cutting him loose after he missed one practice is the best thing they could have done to prevent that. One of the things that turns me off about pro sports is contract holdouts. I don't understand how someone can miss work who is under contract.

He might not be wrong, but it's a stupid article because it's low-hanging fruit/point that's being made. Teams are learning to deal with the environment, and a team deciding to draw the line doesn't mean they don't have money or aren't interested in playing the game like everyone else. Until some rules get put into place that stop the chaos of unlimited transfers and no requirements to stay, everybody has to draw a line somewhere in the Wild Wild West, and UT drew theirs.
