I'd still take Pat Summit over Geno.

If she lived to be Geno's age she would have had around 12 titles also.
She is a much better person than Geno.

She’s forgotten more about basketball than Geno.

If you live to be Geno’s age you will have created probably 30,000 threads (in spite of intermittent well deserved suspensions).

a thread for every thought that pops into his head

At Geno's age Kansas will lose another 500 football games.

Man, your comebacks all suck.

Only on tRant can a Coach with 12 Championships and SIX PERFECT SEASONS be discounted. Insanity.

Summit is the more important figure historically because of everything she did to help grow the game when it was basically nonexistent. Auriemma is the better coach. 12 titles speaks for itself, and he was 4-0 in title games against Summit.

Men who coach women's sports are weird

Then you would have a losing record against UConn too.

Love Pat Summit.
I'm not sure how her coaching would translate to today's game, but I'm sure she would have won more NAtty's and still been the all-time wins leader if that horrible disease didn't take her out.

No doubt. She would probably have won at least 2 more. She was 59 when she retired and will always be the pioneer and face of women basketball. And even if geno won more than her or Dawn, no one will ever be the universally loved ambassador she was for that sport and the SEC. She was truly one of a kind.

Having lived a long life, look at it this way
Adolph / men = Pat / women
(play anybody / anywhere / anytime and coach the game unaided)
John + Pappa Sam = Geno + ESPN
Good coaches made great by an "unseen" hand

They are both legends.
Enough said.

I’m not going to get involved in the OP’s question but I covered major college sports for two decades and the only person I ever encountered who had the same kind of aura and presence as Pat Summit when she walked into a room was Paul Bryant. Both of them when they looked at you, their eyes bored into you and you felt it all the way to your guts.

I’ll take watching corn hole or curling over women shooting free throws and missing layups.
Chick ball sucks.
