11 SEC Programs have made a Final 4 in their program’s history, and Tennessee is not one of them.

It’s a relevant stat that nearly every basketball fan looks at. Just because you don’t think anything of it doesn’t make it irrelevant when discussing programs.

The F4 is a nifty bit of trivia for Tennessee men’s hoops. It would have been nice but it’s not the ultimate goal and we’d have needed a lot of miracles to get past Duke. We needed Lanier to consistently be DK and he just isn’t. We also needed more height.

As someone whose team has 5 combined CFP/Final 4 appearances, I would say it’s more impressive to win your way to a Final 4 than be invited to a 12 team playoff.
Considering your team has only accomplished the latter (and nothing beyond that), I would say that you’re not quite qualified to compare the two

I’m sure that dusty final 4 from 1983 helps you live with the fact that your basketball program is currently among the conference’s worst.

Yup kinda like 1998...
We made the dance for the 1st time in a bit, so that's a start.
utk still working on 27yrs since1998 for a SECC or a NC in football for a supposed blueblood is miserable...
1983 has been a minute but better than anything MBB at utk can claim...

None of that is relevant to the posted topic. It’s funny you have to tie football into a basketball thread to try and make yourself feel better about your awful basketball team. Congratulations on being the last SEC team in the the dance in a year where 14 teams made it.

1) zero chance you were alive in 1983
2) outside of the 70s, the VOLS don’t really have a storied basketball history. wasn’t until Bruce got there that we started consistently competing. Just keep proving your ignorance
