The perception is that NIL has hurt SEC football but helped basketball

Time will tell if this is an accurate take

Football is cyclical, it’s always the same teams, tjere are about 16 teams capable of winning it all. And half of that group reside in the sec. The sec will always be the football king bc the sec is the brand king. Saban just made it seem like no other conferences could win.

One year without the SEC in the national championship does not equate to the end of the SEC's run.

In 2014 Ohio State played Oregon in the National Championship. It did not mark the end of the run. Ten years later, and we are in the same scenario. The important part is that it typically takes ten years to get a season where the SEC is not represented.

The SEC is, and always will be a Football conference. Get real!! lol

If the CFP committee had done their jobs, and not been lazy asses, and just selected the teams with the best W- L record, regardless of schedule, the SEC would have had much better representation in the playoffs.

The SEC, in 2025, will have the most competitive and most elite teams, by far, of any other conference.

Eh, the SEC just has too many competent programs. As we can see in basketball, a sweet 16 littered with sec teams. Unfortunately, in football, the 2-4 losses you stack amongst each other will keep you out of the playoff. Meanwhile the big 10 and ACC have 2 competent programs each and a bunch of non competitive academic schools. Would've loved to see ole miss in last year's playoff.

The SEC no longer a football conference?

We took over Ohama, we took over basketball, and remain the best conference in football. Wtf

I’d say with NIL & portal, parody will reign supreme. While the cream will usually rise to the top, the chances of a dark horse or non-“blueblood” program not only getting into the CFP but winning it, is more likely than ever.

The money is all about College Football. End of story.

Now - if UCONN wants to continue to be the Death Star of Women's Hoops ? I say let them. Don't spend a dime to get in the way.

Because this is where I think Barnhart at Kentucky doesn't have a clue - and many other ADs don't either. They want to "win all the sports".

It's a new world, now. A zero-sum game, at least with your own budget. Where do you want to spend it ? Every dollar thrown at Gymnastics is a dollar less for the one sport that matters. Or two - for those schools lucky enough to be positive revenue for Mens Hoops.

Baseball is a higher priority than men’s basketball

And I can see that. Because you can sell me on the idea that - other than football, be good at one other sport.

You can sell me on the idea that its good to be good at one sport in each season - Fall, Winter, Spring.

You can't sell me that anybody gives a damn about Women's Rowing or Men's Bass Fishing or a bunch of other stuff. Not enough to justify a dime away from either football - or the idea of being good at two sports - or one sport each season.
