you can see why NFL execs would want to take a chance fully knowing that it could be a wasted pick.

The way quarterbacks raise their floor is by getting the ball out quickly and on time when executing the short game. And Milroe struggled with that a year ago in Tuscaloosa. His success rate on passes under 10 yards was just 83.76%, the lowest I’ve charted in this year’s draft class.

Milroe has to speed up his process to simply get the ball out and make his job easier at times. This largely stems from becoming more comfortable with what he is seeing pre-snap and being able to anticipate rotations that will be thrown at him after the ball is snapped.

But

Milroe has an identical success rate to Sanders (who has been charted as the most accurate quarterback in the class) when throwing the football over 20 yards in depth. Creating a big play is not out of the depths of Milroe with a success rate sitting at 60% throwing the ball deep down the field.

He sits with a success rate of 59% on go balls, 71% on posts, 66% on digs, 70% on out routes, and 66% on comeback attempts. For as ineffective as Milroe is at getting the ball out on time in the short game, he will make you pay down the field if given the time and opportunity to do so.

Just so you understand, even though his success rate is higher on the shorter routes, those are the easy ones that even most second string QBs in the NFL can deliver on. The percentages on these longer routes, while lower, are great because they are harder to have success on.

I would bet that he fails as Kurt Warner has said for years now that you have to be able to do the easy stuff and take what the defense gives to be successful in the NFL because that's all they will give until you prove your consistent enough to do it.

But I don't know if I've ever seen a QB so good at making difficult throws and so bad at easy ones.

The quotes are from Cory Kinnan at Reception Perception.

All it takes is one GM to think he can fix that.

And there will be, because you can’t train speed or teach it. And the way football is now, you have to have it. Or you’ll be Andrew Luck and retired before you knock up your girlfriend.

Very true, a team with a Vet QB in their twilight years would be a potentially good fit to take a chance on Milroe.

Yes and he’ll be a day three pick with nothing lost.

Milroe hasn't had a real offensive coach like he will in the NFL. His coaching at Alabama was subpar. Actual talent evaluators see that.

34-48 for 565 passing with 35 carries for 211 against your squad. Your team must have lsustephen level coaching on the defense or something to get shredded like that.

The OC who said he wasn't a QB and should play another position was a former NFL HC who had a pretty good offense and QB when he was in Houston.

Born on 3rd base with Tom Brady and fired in Houston LOL. If Milroe succeeds it will be in spite of Alabama just like Hurts.

Milroe's 20+ yards throws were a strength of his up until Tennessee game last year. From there on he couldn't even consistently hit those. IDK what exactly happened to him, but Milroe's regression last season was one very disappointing.

Born on 3rd base with Tom Brady? Wut? Not trying to tell you BoB is a HOF coach. But he's coached 9 full seasons in the NFL and Power conference college football. He's only had one losing season. You don't have to look very hard to realize that such is not easy. His offenses also have been above average everywhere he's been for the most part. And his college jobs weren't easy.

I think Milroe would be a good pick for the saints in the 4th or later as a replacement for Taysom. He'd have to be willing to do everything Taysom does but he has the size and skillset for it.

It’s this simple to me.

The most important aspect, of an NFL QB

Is his head.

i.e. JaMarcus Russell

But the importance of the position will tempt many coaches and GM’s to make horrible mistakes.

Not saying anything against the bama QB

But this shouldn’t be difficult to find out

His ball security is a low priority when he runs. Dude fumbles way too often to ever be a running back.

Ah yes, the parrot, the state bird of Alabama.

How'd he look in his last 8 games?
How'd he look crashing out of the senior bowl?
How's that 2024 SECCG trophy look in the UGA trophy case?
