Is there a worse ROI in the SEC than Mississippi State baseball?

For a program that is credited with being the first to care about SEC baseball and having all these big crowds and nice stadiums and MLB alumni…. What exactly does the program have to show for it that makes it special other than “we will give your right fielder a hamburger”?
One national title (eight other SEC schools have at least one)
Since 1990, one SEC regular season championship (10 other schools have also won at least one SEC title in that time)
Since the Super Regional format was introduced in 1999, State has been a Top 16 seed entering the tournament only 7 times in 25 years with a tournament.
Clearly there is a Lemonis issue at the moment, and he may be done soon. 36-60 in SEC play since winning a national title. But it also predates him in many areas, outside of a very strong stretch from 2016-2021 (and you can include the 2013 CWS runner up season too).
It’s a program that invests a lot into baseball and hasn’t gotten that great of a return on it.

Tony V has done a number on the traditional SEC "baseball" schools

I’m hoping Alabama baseball is finally turning a corner, but we haven’t exactly returned much on the stadium renovation in 2016. It was $65 million and we have only hosted a regional once.

It started with Ron Polk absolutely being the most pathetic coach in college baseball history had loaded teams and couldn't win shite with them. Gets celebrated as a saint. Lemonis actually won something with his team and does about the same as Polk post 80s when SEC started caring about baseball and people are surprised.
Its just a sport not worth wasting money on. Especially when our fans celebrate our losses with opposing players and fans

MSU is nothing without POLK. Shitting on him should be a sin for a msu fan.

There are bad takes and then there’s whatever this is.
Would be the equivalent of an Arkansas fan bad-mouthing Frank Broyles.

South Carolina baseball?

I have never understood why any program would go "all in" on baseball...this is not an attack on MSU. Hell, Ole Miss does the same thing. We are always near the top of the conference in baseball attendance. Not sure where we stand with NIL, but our fans clearly give a shite. But there's just no way to really benefit from it. We are not going to win enough Championships for it to really matter. It is a low return sport, because outside this conference, no one cares about it.

As long as it makes money who cares... It is a big money maker for the town. In a small town like Oxford, that generates a lot of NIL money from Locals.
Hard to beat a sunny day in April out in leftfield in Oxford.

Lemonis got lazy after winning it all and it has really showed in his poor recruiting the last few years. Its a shame that we have catchers who can't throw out runners at 2nd base the second year in a row. We have no true CF on our roster and our bullpen has blown late inning leads in 4 of our 5 SEC losses.

FSU was a powerhouse before LSU and probably before MSU...has never won a CWS

FSU had a streak snapped a few years ago of consecutive 40 win seasons. it was over 20 I want to say right before Mike Martin retired.
