brings another title home to Austin and the SEC.
This conference is just so damn good at every sport it participates in.

Reality is the SEC is grossly underachieving at this NCAAs. 5 biggest underachieving teams from the first full day are all us

Texas is in 3rd place instead of 2nd place..
That stat is a little misleading..
On the Women's side..
Virginia's gonna win and it's not gonna be close.
On the Men's side..
Texas is #1, but that may not hold up. We win most of our matches because we have so many great swimmers, and the volume overwhelms the field.. but we only win a few of the races..
My understanding is that strategy doesn't work as well at Nationals, and Florida may have a better chance to win the NC.
I don't know. Florida or Texas.

They are the top 2 teams (by a good bit) based on seeded times coming into the meet, but the women's performances so far from those 2 schools leaves a lot of room for doubt. Take the 500 free, last year's champion was bella sims of uf. She didn't even make the b finals yesterday. That's wild as frick in underperformance vs SECs. Her time from SECs would've won by a half second last night, but their taper is not holding up well at all... and i doubt she was fully rested for conference. It's also voodoo math to compare the women performances to the men, a week later. Between the extra time and body physiology difference it's a pile of unknown... not that tapers are an exact science for an entire team worth of athletes anywho.

Yeah, I'm not sure this was ever in doubt

How long ago were conference? Did this happen to other sec swimmers also, or just her ? My daughter is a competitive swimmer (she's only 9) and follows this stuff close. generally if it was more than a few days, unless she did some silly bars work outs, I can't think that has any bearing. Maybe she was just not feeling good ?

Right at a month ago.

So far she's the only defending champion to not even make consols... but in the 500 free there are 3 girls who didn't final at all who should've, based on their time at conference. 2 being uf girls, the other being an uga. Uf had 2 200 IMers who should've got a 2nd swim, but didn't, and Tennessee added 1... but she was also DQed for a bad back to breast turn lol. Tennessee's 200 medley relay added a full second and Texas' 800 free relay added 4 seconds. Auburn had 2 girls false start in the 100 fly so far today, not that they were likely scorers, but wtf lol.

Swimming at 9 is so different than at this level. Your daughter is hopefully doing it because it's fun. That really changes at around 12-13 for females, guys a couple years behind that. Then it loses a lot of fun and becomes constant hard work. 2 a day practices + school is some b.s., but thankfully college has limited weekly practice hours. The college swim season winds on for 6-7 months straight. None of this is to dissuade you/her from that path, but a courtesy of letting you know what that life is about

She is aware. She loves practices,.and sometimes just playing with her friends
We make her do a sport, the choice of which was always hers.
Having ADHD she was generally bad at most other sports involving teams, so she got into this
9 year olds don't have the muscle development yet to really do the two a days. she does 5 a week, and then some dryland and

Much better sports and I think most here would agree …. Probably the two most popular sports outside of maybe women’s basketball for second .Texas continually brags about sports most school don’t even have and use it like they are powerhouses in real sports ….

Keep those country club trophies coming.

So Texas isn’t going to win it all? What is the point of this?

I was just ADD, back when that was a thing

That's kinda what i had assumed. Running for cardio always seemed like a crock of shite to me, but it beat just always being in the pool. That gets monotonous.

Love seeing this part. Some of my closest friends are folks i was swimming with, or against, at her age. Just a great community.
