Strangely enough the last 6 conference games outside of being home and away is setup much like a tournament run would be.

Arkansas at home would be much like a first round game. (Ranked 42)

Georgia at home like a round of 32. (Ranked 39)

Ole Miss a sweet 16 game (Ranked 25)

UK on the road an elite 8 game (Ranked 17)

aTm on the road like a Final 4 game (Ranked 11)

And finish it off with a championship type game against bammer. (Ranked 6)

Ranking are current NET rankings. I wonder if Bruce uses it as a test to put a tournament feel to it?

Seriously though, I do worry about Arkansas. Coaches will be earning their paychecks keeping this team focused after a huge, emotional win. I don't know how we match up against Arkansas, but it appears their losses have been tight games and they're in desperation mode to get the wins necessary to go dancing

Arky is the scariest game to me in the next three. Huge letdown spot to a very talented team in desperate need of a signature win

It's a fair point, especially considering that we honestly need to sit Broome and CBM to rest their injuries and have them ready for the tournament(s). I'd be perfectly OK with L's in the next two if we could get both back 100%, but the way the team played without JB earlier, I think we could also just as easily win both without those two guys.

They got that win against UK in Rupp a few games back so that's their signature win.

I am with you that they are talented enough to beat anyone, though.

No way Bruce is not going to have his team ready to play at home against a Cal coached team. He is a history buff and is 9-14 vs Cal all time and would want to improve on that.

That's how you tell your team this game isn't important. If they are healthy they play.

I haven't watched much of Arkansas this year so I looked at their offense and defense stats and national rankings. They are for the most part.... Turrible! I know they have the tall kid and I'm sure they are athletic, but what exactly are they good at? Cal at Kentucky played a lot of ISO drive and/or drive and kick to a shooter (a la Bama). Is that their game at Arkansas as well? They do not appear to have many shooters.

Yeah they are mediocre but have talent to put it together for a night. They have at least a couple pretty good wins this year. Their offense is painful to watch at times. They can be good defensively when they lock in, which I expect them to lock in against us

Try to enjoy each win equally.

They're also missing their best freshman recruit in 5 star guard Boogie Fland. Out for the rest of the season with a thumb injury. He was NY Mr Basketball last year. He was averaging just over 15 pts in the 18 games he played this season.

They have talent there, but they just haven't really gelled as a whole. Seems like Calipari coached teams have that issue a lot.

Disagree. Big Z is their best player and a matchup nightmare.

You're right. I meant to type "best freshman".

A 7’2 guy that shoots 40%+ from three. I’m terrified of him. That game last week against Bama where he went off for 27 just showed what a Swiss Army knife of a big he can be.

Yeah he is really good. That's what makes the league so tough this year. A bottom third team has the talent to beat any of the top teams any game.

Denver getting his defense back on track is my biggest take away from last week.

I appreciate his scoring, but he truly excels at locking down ball-handling guards.

He was announced as SEC player of the week, and his performance against Sears played an enormous role in that.

We haven’t had an on-ball defender like him since Samir. And Samir was the guy that locked down Herro in that elite 8 matchup against UK in 2019. Denver is a better on-ball defender.

Part of why I’m getting bothered by the bammers over on the rant already trying to crown us and say we have it locked up.

We don’t. I don’t care what the projections like Torvik say. Every team in this conference is dangerous as hell. Even bottom feeding USCe is only 10 points of difference over 6 or 7 games from being a tournament team, and they very nearly beat us.
