The Southeastern Conference has postponed Thursday night's women's basketball game between No. 5 LSU and No. 2 South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina, until Friday because of winter weather.
In its announcement, the Southeastern Conference said that Friday's game would tip off at 5 p.m. ET.
Who you got?

How is LSU 20-0 and only 5th?

Mulkey plays very weak non-conf schedules ... always has, even at Baylor. I think she's only faced one ranked opponent so far.
Conversely, Staley has faced eight ranked opponents, four of which were Top Ten with #5 LSU coming up on Friday and #4 UConn coming next week.
They SEC schedule is tough, on its own.
This upcoming Friday game will tell us a lot about what Mulkey's got this season.

I root for Dawne until she plays LSU. We about to put WBB on notice, Geaux Tigers.

All the while, Tennessee fans...

That’s a poor excuse to schedule weak ooc teams. S CAROLINA, ole miss, and Tennessee plays at least one top ranked program. Idk Mulkey refuse to

But LSU beat Tennessee at their house, and was in control the entire game….so maybe it’s not as important as you think it is

Mulkey and Dawn have different scheduling philosophies. Kim prefers a softer non con schedule which often gives her teams early season confidence as well as opportunities to pad the win column and win even when they don't play well. The issue with this approach, if not managed properly, players can build a false sense of security and lose focus. They can also wilt when they finally get tested against stiff competition. Kim is one of the best coaches in the game, and has had title teams that played softer schedules. Obviously she has been able to manage her teams well.
Dawn on the other hand chooses to load up with top teams that she is likely to face in the tourney. This gives her an accurate gauge of her team's weaknesses along with opportunities to correct them before the tourney. It also gives WBB fans what they want to see, top teams battling on the largest stages throughout the season. This packs arenas, glues eyeballs to the TV, and helps grow the game. Given the ratings over the last several years, the networks have been eating more than their fair share of the profit off the women's game. This is finally changing. Obviously Dawn has been successful with her method, and been an advocate for the game as well.

I would be shocked if LSU won. I think the program is another year away from having the depth and talent Kim expects from an elite program.
It sucks she had a major surgery after the national title. LSU signed virtually no one as she couldn’t travel and recruit. Now she’s healthy and LSU has the #1 class signed.
I think we already know a lot about LSU, they’ve beaten good NC State and Tennessee teams. LSU also has three all Americans starting but I’m not so sure lsu has the post play to beat Carolina.
Should be fun but unfortunately I think Kim needs one more year with the surgery being in the way. I’m happy the drama has left since Angel Reese went pro, felt positive she was going to retire very soon.

Kim still played a much better schedule when she was at Baylor. I do think people forget it’s only her fourth season at LSU so the schedule provides a nice outlet to win early and build momentum.
If Kim had the talent and depth South Carolina has I don’t doubt she would strengthen the schedule a little. I don’t think it can be understated LSU whiffed on everyone after the 2023 title because Kim was out

Lsu never plays tough opponents outside SEC play.

I don’t really have a problem with if while she’s still building. Signing one person in 24 class killed the plan.
LSU packs the arena so I just feel bad for season ticket holders
I don’t watch the girls much until conference play.

There is no doubt, Kim will have her team ready to play and I believe this will be a tough game for the gamecocks. Carolina doesn't have the superstar dominant post as in past years that swallows rebounds, blocks every shot, and is an auto 2 point cheat code in the paint. Carolina's lack of a dominant post presence has caused issues at times securing rebounds and allowing teams second chance opportunities. We've also given up points in the paint to aggressive bigs and fast penetrating guards. UCLA was hot, and caught us on an off night exposing our early season vulnerabilities down low. Tx gave us fits rebounding, but couldn't throw it in the ocean. We do have a number of good players with any one of them liable to get hot. Joyce Edwards is a freshman who has emerged and will only get better. The gamecocks will need to play well to win. Fortunately for us it is at home, and we've been shooting the ball pretty well.
A win would give Carolina a leg up in the SEC race. Carolina is also riding the longest SEC regular season game win streak in history at 53 games. A win would extend that streak for Carolina and tie the SEC home win streak record at 69 games.

LSU starting 5 is just as talented as Carolina's players and if they can slow the game down and stay out of foul trouble they can win. The difference in the 2 teams is the Gamecocks go 10 deep vs tigers 5 and USC has no drop off rotating players. Will Lsu have the legs come the 4th quarter?

LSU actually plays 8-9 girls. They just arent at the skill level of Carolina’s bench. We ate shite missing on post players in the 24 class.
Wolfenbarger might be really good with another year of coaching.

I was comparing the quality of depth and Kim doesn't like going deep on the bench when playing Elite teams. You know lsu top scorer is going to be between 3 players but Gamecocks have 10 players that fill that role.

Oh it's not a bad thing. LSU won a championship with the same strategy.

LSU has played 2 ranked teams with 6 remaining on the schedule. Not sure what yall bitching about.
