Sound, physical football team. Tight man coverage and tackle really well in space. Just an all around well coached team. They don’t have the skill people and the QB is subpar but he is gutsy. I don’t like Notre Dame but I’ve really enjoyed watching them play the last couple games.

Early returns seem to suggest that they picked the right guy to inherit the stable program Kelly left behind.

They are a smart team.

I know they bemoan their academic hurdles in getting certain kids, but the ones they do get are smart and sometimes that is worth more than being super athletic.

Interesting because he went 9-4 in his first year.

He has done great job with the team this year, pushing the right buttons. I do wonder if he'll head to NFL...

Penn State and ND were both gifted extremely easy paths to the semifinals by a broken selection and seeding process.

ND had IU with no top 25 wins, drastically overseeded post injury UGA and a Penn State team whose only “ranked” win was over FEI 35 Illinois.

Penn State on the other hand had zero top 25 win SMU, zero top 25 Boise and walked into the semifinals despite an offense that was Tyler Warren and the 10 dwarfs.

The best win either team had coming into the playoffs was Texas A&M who finished the year 8-5 and was FEI 21.

With proper seeding and selection its highly unlikely either of those teams makes a final.

The team that I think would’ve been a nightmare for either of them that didn’t even make the playoffs was Ole Miss.

They had the DL to take away the run and the offense to force both teams to throw to their receivers far more than they would’ve been comfortable doing.

tRant and Tiger Rant are hilarious right now.

On tRant you've got a few LSU posters high on copium battling furiously to minimize what Freeman has been able to do at ND.

Then, you take a look at Tiger Rant which is in full meltdown over how much of a disappointment BK has been at LSU and bemoaning the fact he'll never win there.

I can only imagine how hard other fan bases would be trolling Bama fans if DeBoer's replacement at UW went undefeated in his first playoff appearance and made it to the NC, if DeBoer hadn't managed to win either a conference championship or make it to the CFP at Bama.

He's done a great job this year. He rallied his team and has not wasted that failure (NIU) that the GOAT was so great at mastering

For a first time ever head coach to make the National Title game in year 3 at that job? Very impressive. I thought he would be a failure but was dead wrong.

Larry Coker did it in his first year at Miami in 2001

Yep and that was arguably the most talented roster in college football history. I could’ve coached that team to a national championship.

Bitch about the seeding all you want but it was bad across the board. Clemson was in the playoffs by default, so too was Arizona State, and Boise State's claim to fame was a close loss to #1 Oregon at the beginning of the season. Texas hadn't beaten anyone with a pulse during the regular season and Ohio State had two losses despite having the most talented roster in the FBS. At the end of the day, there were no elite teams in college football this year.

They play good D and that is going to keep them in games against people with “more talent.” You play good D, you don’t have to score a bunch of points yourself.

They were robbed of that title in the Title Game vs OSU

I think we're saying the same thing. My point was that of the top 5 teams who are probably actually elite PSU, ND and Texas got to avoid any of the other elite teams whereas Ohio State had to play Oregon and a talented if flawed TN team.

Ohio State has an ultra elite roster BTW.

They could play with the average elite SEC teams going back the last two decades and itll show come NFL draft time.

The loss to UM was all on Day. The one thing Michigan had was an ultra elite DL and he was bound and determined to physically dominate them instead of using his massive advantages in speed and the passing game to put them away.

Michigan ran clock, got a couple breaks and with the new clock rules were able to kill enough possessions to skate away with a win.

But make no mistake, if you're rating rosters in CFB Ohio State would be #1 by a large margin.

If I were picking teams I didnt want to play right now it would look something like this:
1) Ohio State

2) Texas
3) Ole Miss
4) ND
5) Oregon
6) Penn State

7) UGA (post QB injury)

Ugly mess of non-CFP level flawed teams: Bama, SC, TN, ASU

I don't understand why PennSt let their qb throw at all. ND struggled vs their rushing attack.

And true to form, their shite qb ruined everything with that TERRIBLE INT.

I also don't think they have what it takes at corner to stop Tejas or OhioSt. ND didn't have to defend the pass vs PennSt much. They will in the natty.
